Tom Cable denies discussing adding Terrell Owens

Picking up Terrell Owens is a move that would be consistent with previous Raiders signings.

But Raiders coach Tom Cable denied an ESPN report that said the team has internally discussed adding Owens.

“We really haven’t had any discussion about that,” Cable said on KNBR Tuesday. “We’ve
got a good, young receiving corps, it’s never been a point of
conversation.”

That group includes two solid young talents in Chaz Schilens and Louis Murphy.  Oakland also seems intent on playing Darrius Heyward-Bey as a starter, even if it’s clear Murphy is a superior player.

We think Owens will find a team.  He can still help someone if he lowers his contract demands.

But there really is no logical fit out there, especially if the Raiders don’t want to take him on.

    You’re an illogical idiot hack.

I would take DHB & his “Dropsies” any day over a cancer like TO, especially at this stage of his career. That’s the last thing a team with a (Finally) productive off-season needs – is someone like this tearing up a young QB like Jason Campbell.
    Just say NO to T.O.

Look, when will people realize that the Raiders of the past 2 years are nothing like the Raiders from the 70s?
They’ve been linked to every sort of criminal/locker room cancer, e.g. Michael Vick, Chad Ocho, Big Ben, TO, and have signed NONE of them.
Instead they’ve signed Richard Seymour, Greg Ellis, Jeff Garcia, and have passed on guys like Diva Crabtree in the draft.
The team currently consists of almost all high character guys, particularly their recent signings/draft picks..Zach Miller, Bruce Almighty, Charlie Frye, Chaz, Nnamdi, etc.

Signing TO is consistent with the Raiders? What planet are you on? Florio, sometimes you are ridiculous, a little boy in short pants. Pull the thumb out of your mouth.
This is why I love Cable. There is no florkin way Cable would ever sign TO. Hey Florio, out there in a tiny corner of some state west of Virginia. The Raiders are much more interesting than you think, but you have as much knowledge of them as I have of techniques for painting naked SI models. (OK, just like you, I’ll give it a shot, even in ignorance.)
My prediction: Cable will be Raider coach for a long long time, and he will bring back raiderness to the Raiders.

any available player will somehow be linked to the raiders. no news here

Dude did you just explain to everyone that reads this post that you guys do not imply logic when coming to your conclusions? And it is a little unfair to say Murphy is better than DHB at this point. Let’s see what happens this season.

I think Murphy caught 1 of every 3 balls thrown at him last year. He hardly represents an insurmountable object.

Louis Murphy is the best WR on the team.

living dead….he should limit ANY tv appearances…its “sunset” on a brilliant career that helped form the NFL’s inception. He broke the race barrier, had the first woman CEO in Amy Trask..but now is the proud owner of the worst record in a 7 year span…get a G.M., Al…and hurry….a Nation is in pain… A Raider Nation is waiting…

  11. NCRaiderDon says: May 19, 2010 11:08 AM

I agree with OttoBass. I would MUCH rather take DHB and his “dropsies”, than have “The Plague” come to Raider Nation and destroy any ounce of productive offseason moves.
DHB still has a chance to overcome the fumblefingers and be a solid WR, whereas TO has gotten worse at it over his career.
    Just say NO to TO!

I guess Raider fans need to be reminded of the DeAngelo Fall and JAvon Walker signings.

Dammit at this point that Raider’s pick is going to be lower than the Patriot’s pick

  15. Ray Guy says: May 19, 2010 11:28 AM

Me thinks Florio is geographically challenged. Based on all of his assessments of the Raiders, he thinks they are based in Cincinnati.

I’m not a big fan of T.O. but I’ll take him here in Houston. Let him line up on the field with Andre Johnson. It would be like having Chris Carter and Randy Moss… unstopable!!!

This is a pile of crap, plain and simple.
Cable has been right on the money, for those that actually listen to him. He tells it like it is, no bullshit.

  19. SoFlaTrojan says: May 19, 2010 12:06 PM

    Greenantz,
Chaz is the best receiver on the team but Murphy is far better than DHB and showed flashes of becoming a good receiver.

  20. Hap says: May 19, 2010 12:39 PM

Oakland’s a perfect place for him.

  21. goinalldaway says: May 19, 2010 1:14 PM

Dont forget Jacoby Ford………Nick Miller can also be a difference maker. Higgings should have fire lit under his a$$ this offseason with all these wide recivers……he needs to step his game up

  22. vanhelsing says: May 19, 2010 1:24 PM

actually, one can add jabustsus to the list of characted – challenged signings.
he just took the $ for nothing.

  23. JSpicoli says: May 19, 2010 1:26 PM

You guys said it all. We have not been signing guys like this for years, but every time one comes available they slip into a fog and pat zero attention to actual happenings and rely on their Raider “comic book” version of things.
Disappointing for a source I once thought of as intuitive and insightful.
Cable rocks the honesty, but they just keeping making up their own subtitles.

  24. NinerNation says: May 19, 2010 1:50 PM

It’s really annoying when fans of other teams chime in on topics that they know nothing about(remember that Raiders fans who are currently crying).
You guys are right though, the Raiders have plenty of talent on their team, and they are all high-character guys. The WR’s are nowhere near as bad as the media implies(Schillens, and Murphy ave VERY good), and with the fat-ass gone, the Raiders have the makings of a good team.
It’ll probably take a little while for all the new pieces to mesh together, and the O-line to stabilize, but I can absolutely see the Raiders in a legitimate competition for the AFC West in two years…maybe this year if everything goes right for the Raiders, and a lot goes wrong for the Chargers.

Uh, okay. I’ve attended many Texan home games (not a fan but a friend has season tickets) and I’m always amazed at how many Texan fans completely over-value any player that plays for their team. Dude, get a clue. T.O. doesn’t scare anyone and hasn’t for a long time. Unstoppable? Hardly.

Cable has said many times, that he want’s to rid the locker room of “knuckleheads”…
Look up “knucklehead” in the dictionary, you will see T.O.’s photo next to the definition….

    Urrrrr aahhhhh…. Let’s see…..
‘Last couple of times that we took a swing at one of these “Me First” cats; we ended up with an injury/tantrum nightmare that petitioned for a ‘Patriot Bailout and a Cristal-Spraying Orbital-Fracture that was so generous enough as to offer us a refund on our “alleged” investment. Who exactly knows what the next cat will have in store for us?
    Thanks…. But; No Thanks…….
Let’s not fracure our own ‘Orbit.
    We’ll pass….

Obviously you didn’t read this article, or have been paying any attention to what the Raiders have done this off-season. Keep chiming in on things you know absolutely nothing about though……..
