Today’s “will Brett Favre return or will he retire” story comes from Favre’s old friend Al Jones of the Biloxi Sun Herald, who passes along what Favre said in a visit with the Southern Mississippi baseball team.
Jones reports that after Favre addressed the team, an outfielder named Justin Diliberto asked, “Are you playing next season?” Diliberto said.
Favre responded that if Southern Miss made it back to the College World Series, he would return to the Vikings.
“I was a kid again watching y’all play in the College World Series,” Favre said. ”That was amazing. I don’t know — yet. . . . Let’s make a [fun] bet. If you guys go back to the College World Series this year — I will come back and play. How about that? You go back and I go back.”
Before he left the team, Favre mentioned the deal again.
“Guys, remember the bet,” he said. “Y’all go back and I go back. I promise, I will be keeping up with you. Good luck.”
So those who would like to know whether Favre will return would be wise to keep an eye on the Southern Miss baseball schedule.
