Jason Taylor sees "night and day" difference between Dolphins and Jets

nfl_taylor_250.jpgJason Taylor made a career out of hurling insults at the Jets and their fans.  Now that he’s a Jet, he has lobbed his first grenade at the team with which he spent all but one season of his career.

Asked whether he has noticed a difference in the culture with his new team, Taylor said, “It is night and day.  Everything here is a little more relaxed, I guess you can say.  There is a whole different vibe in the building.  The practices, walkthroughs and meetings are a little more positive and calm.”

If that’s true, why was Taylor essentially begging for an offer from the Dolphins?

Instead, our guess is that Taylor is in the process of treating the Fins with the same contempt he previously directed to the Jets.  And that’s just another reason why the 2010 season can’t get here soon enough.

Me too Jason, the Dolphins are positioned for a period of sustained success and the Jets are a one year popcorn fart composed of malcontents and has-beens. Sure they have the best Corner in the league, but everybody else is a question mark. Also, Dolphin fans aren’t annoying, irrational, uninformed ass clowns, whereas Jets fans carry themselves with a bravado and swagger usually reserved for teams that have ACTUALLY WON THE SUPER BOWL.

Jason, just shut up and play. Remember when you first came into the league. Jason, Jason, Jason.
You avoided burning the bridge when you went to DC for a wasted season. That fine act allowed you to come back and play for the fins again.
Now this. Don’t burn your bridges guy. You got an opportunity from the only team that was willing to sign you, so I can understand your ass kissing of that organization, but, don’t crap on Miami.
Your home is there, your foundation is there, and lastly, your fans are there. Your fans are NOT in Jersey.
These sorry ass jets fans are always looking for scapegoats and when this season tanks, you better hide the curry. That locker room will feel just horrific when you guys go 7-9.
Gangrene is not your thing cause you will always be aqua and blue so shut up and play.

Did you expect Taylor to know how the Jets locker room compared to Miami before becoming a Jet? All Taylor knows is the Dolphins and the Skins.
Well, I guess I answered my own question, he should have known the Jets would have a better locker room than those two miserable franchises.

i dont care who he played for 2 words. WASHED-UP!

  34. NYMets says: May 20, 2010 7:34 PM

Taylor wanted to stay in Miami for non-football reasons. Lets face it, the Dolphins suck. And now that’s he out of there not to mention how ungracious that second rate organization was in booting him out the door, he’s free to call it as he sees it.

  35. Zinn says: May 20, 2010 7:34 PM

Taylor is not the only new Jet to note how good the atmosphere is. It just adds more evidence that Rex has a lot of charisma and players enjoy playing for him.
But like many have said offseason moves and happy players does not win a championship. The Jets may have one of the most talented teams in the league but they are still lacking at the most important position of QB. Sanchez was terrible last year. Arguably the worst QB in the league if we do not consider Oakland part of the league. Teams were playing 8-9 men in the box last year daring Sanchez to throw. Even with the best running game, best offensive line and best defense he was awful. Imagine what will happen if the Jets get behind in games and have to rely on him rather than simply protect him and the team from letting him throw.
All that being said Sanchez improved greatly in the playoffs. But remember that was with defense daring him to throw and very favorable matchups. Imagine what will happen if the Jets running game is not as good and teams play more balanced defenses against Sanchez. Yes Sanchez can only get better but he has so much room to improve before he can become even an average QB.
I have no idea how the Jets will do this year. The schedule is not as bad last year but its still tough. The division is brutal. The Pats will be better and the Phins are a very impressive physical team. The defense will likely be worse this year for a number of reasons. The pass defense will have a hard time equalling what they did last year. Offenses will likely throw a lot less at Revis next year. Opposing QBs had a QB rating of 30 throwing against Revis the lowest of any defensive back in the league by far. But what caught my attention was how many times he was thrown out compared to other top cbs. This is obviously part of the good defensive scheming but its also something offenses will learn not to do.
Add in the growing pains losing Faneca and problems losing Jones and the team could have a setback. The Jets are certainly talented arguably the best personnel in the league but it all comes down to Sanchez. If we get the 2009 version of Sanchez I would guess the Jets win 4-7 games. If we get a very improved Sanchez playing at a Kyle Orton or better level they could win 10-12 games.

  36. mrzazz41387 says: May 20, 2010 8:00 PM

I love how Phins fans call him washed up. 7 sacks isn’t too bad for someone so “washed up.”

  37. sposk01 says: May 20, 2010 8:06 PM

Whats the big deal? All he said was that the meetings and practices were a little more relaxed. Its not like he said the Dolphins coaches were like Hitler and if he screwed up he’d be thrown into a sweatbox for a day.
Im a Jet fan and I don’t like the Dolphins at all but i dont see how his comments equate to “treating the Fins with the same contempt he previously directed to the Jets.”
I would seriously pay big money to read an article by Florio that does not attack the Jets in some way or another. The Jets could donate a million bucks to a childrens hospital and he would probably say it was because the Jets got the kids sick in the first place.
You really and truly suck Florio… Go back to school and learn how to be an impartial writer.

  41. mmartian says: May 20, 2010 8:32 PM

The Jets have a broken HB that averaged less per carry than QB Delhormme (bottom half of the league), an unproven back up at HB and unproven LG, an over the hill LB that does not flurish outside of the dolphins system (see washington) and above all else a QB that has a rating that finished the season in the bottom 1/3 of the league.
If I were Sanchez I would clinch my hind-parts a little tighter because if it starts going bad for him hes going to get raped like the time he “experimented” during college. Once they get off to a bad start the NY media will rip him to shreds and from that point forward he will have no confidence to go out there and perform for the rest of the season.

As a Dolphin fan I love JT and he will always be a Dolphin and a future Hall of Famer, but he better learn real fast that he is not gaining anything by falling into the trap of answering these questions about comparing the Jets and Dolphins. He might gain a little favor with his new team and fans, but is losing a ton with the people in South Florida, which is his home and long term football legacy. Please JT, if you have nothing positive to say about Miami when a question is asked, stay quiet.

Super Bowl 3. You just bragged about winning a Super Bowl when gas cost 35 cents a gallon and we were still in Vietnam? Okay, you’re right, you guys won a Super Bowl in 1969. My bad. And you don’t get that by posting such an astronomically ridiculous statement you are actually confirming every single thing I said about Jets fans? Thank you for putting some icing on my cake of football logic. Now punch back in, those burgers won’t flip themselves. One more thing, nobody hates the Jets, they haven’t been good enough to hate, we hate retarded Jets fans that do things like cite a Super Bowl won in 1969, when linemen weighed 225lbs in order to prove a point, and don’t even have the good sense to be ashamed of their infinite stupidity. Thanks for stopping by friend, you just got owned. BADLY.

I worked for the Miami Dolphins and I know how much of a princess this guy can be. This is a guy who would watch practice on one knee because his pro-bowl caliber skills did not require him to take the field. And now this is just over the top.
    Typical ungrateful athlete.
Bad mouthing others who gave opportunities to your bank account, that a mere percentage of persons are blessed with, is a testament to the type of scum you are Taylor.
Wishing ill fates on others is cynical, but in this instance its almost justified.

    Couldn’t agree more-
I have said it before and I will say it again. Ryan D=overrated…Look at the numbers. Every time he plays a HEALTHY quality q-back his D gets dusted. He has made a living padding his stats against the Browns, the Bengals (until CP came to town) etc. And yes Jets fans, I know he beat CP in the platoffs, but we all know CP isn’t the same since the injuries. Not only will the Jets struggle to go 500, their D will struggle to enter the top 10. Watch…

  59. FreeAgentPro says: May 20, 2010 11:27 PM

The typical whiners and candyasses of this forum are dumping on Taylor because the media pressured him to compare two different OTA’s. Most ppl would be surprised to hear him say that the Jets are more positive and calm. I expected him to say the Jets are more intense, but either way he wasn’t saying anything bad about the Phins. The Jets roster is pretty set, while the Phins camp is more competitive with more players vying to make the roster.

  60. tropicalbamboo says: May 20, 2010 11:41 PM

Seriously, how does “night & day” translate into “better or worse”? He just said the camps are different. Is that really a shocker?
The bigger question is, if the Jets’ roster is supposed to be superior to the Dolphins’, why are they plugging in a Dolphins’ reject as their starting OLB?
As Pete Prisco said, he was a shell of himself two years ago. Don’t get caught up in the name.

  65. buddah780 says: May 21, 2010 1:13 AM

Look we all know JT is going to take a few shots at the phins cause they did not do what he wanted them to do and that was to sign him for one more year. The Phins are not in the nostalga busniess anymore, they wanted to get younger and they did, less than seven 30 yearold or older players on the roster. I love everything JT gave the Phins but at this point he is dead to me and he should of taken a page out of Jackie Robinson’s book when Jackie was traded to the Giants, and just retire before playing for a hated rival. If no one but the Jets wanted him he should have retired. But we are all glossing over the fact that the Phins did want to wait until after the draft to make an offer to him and he got impatient. I feel that the Phins would have made him an offer to play one last season in Miami but his ego would not allow waiting an extra week or two. Just remember phins fans the phins have a three game winning streak aginst the Jets going right now . The 2010 season is going to be great and if the Phins only go 2 – 14 and those two wins are aginst the Jets the season will be a success.

Sure the Jests all love playing for laid back funny boy Rex just like players loved palying for Buddy Ryan, Herm Edwards, Marty Shotenheimer and all the other “players” coaches, but did any of them ever win anything?? NO. So Jason shut up and play for that sorry organization and next year when you have a losing record and the NY media starts looking for scapegoats, like the do every year the Jest underacheive, we will then ask you how you like tht locker room. The Jests defense was #1 because of tricks, their D-line is a mess and all the players they added have so much baggage they will never be able to concentrate on football. I mean you are so desperate for a DE that you moved that wasted pik Gholston to DE how bad is that. Plus if Revis is so great why did Ted Ginn dominate him??? Imagine what Brandon Marshall is going to do to you, we have beaten you 3 times in a row and that streak will extend to 5 this year. The Jests are a paper tiger, backed into the playoffs last year when their genius coach thought they were eliminated and this year will come crashing back to Earth. Good Luck Jason see you next year at this time signing that $1 contract and saying how bad your experience was in NY.

Lets ompare the Dolphins Defense with the Jests. Dline – advantage Miami, proven players and at least 6 deep, Jests are converting Gholston the bust, nuf said. LB’s- advantage Miami, can you even name a Jest LB?? We just signed Dansby and have a top draft pick ready to start. Secondary – tie. Miami’s two corners are young and talented and Reis is alot of hype and Cromartie wil not be there half the time because he will be fighting with one of his 10 baby mamas. FS both have new players and at SS our guy was in the Pro Bowl and yours is a dwarf.

Reason for his change of heart? Simple.
He has been “assholafied” while in the New York Jet facilities. It was inevitable.
Look forward to having our front line bury you in the turf on game day.

miami sam…not one of your units has an advantage over us on defense…NOT ONE. keep smoking what your smoking. you arrogant fool
does anyone actually read these idiots post that says revis is alot of hype?
talk about terrible insight, you are embarassing

  78. HellRelle24 says: May 21, 2010 5:47 PM

alright ill just ignore miamisam cause of his blatant ignorance. ginn dominated revis? on one fluke play that revis was in zone coverage and it wasnt even his assignment?
your opinion means zero. go play madden cause not one think you have said is anything near the truth.
david harris is far and away better than any linebacker on your team (dansby is close), and bart scott i think you might know who he is and you especially will this year considering he played with an injury all year.
our dwarf safety is a better playmaker than ANYONE on your defense IMO.
lol your thoughts are embarassing, keep them to yourself

  79. HellRelle24 says: May 21, 2010 6:08 PM

let me also add that with a healthy kris jenkins (most dominant DT in the league when healthy) your line is not even close to comparable with ours. ill give you credit you got some young talent on defense dont get me wrong but your defense is NOWHERE near as talented as ours.
and with a year under the belt for a leagues already #1 DEFENSE. im sorry but no one wants to line up against them

I think the Jets fans get to talk crap the next time the Jets beat the Phins. Till then Miami is on top.

  81. texasPHINSfan says: May 22, 2010 4:09 AM

while i think he is just trying to do and say the right things to endear himself to the Jets and fans, stuff like this makes it harder for me to even like him anymore.
i mean why did he go to the jets, of all places? some things you just don’t do, man. hang up the cleats or play elsewhere.
Jason is losing dolphin fans everywhere. Looks like i’ll be taking my fathead of him down.

im a dolphins fan and its not hard to lose respect for this guy……….first it was his hollywood dreams then it was clear he could no longer play football good on a consistent basis………now he is running his mouth about the organization that has put crack in his pipe for more than a decade.. …not too hard is it!

laugh out loud hellerelle24. are you really that stupid? you actually believe think the jets have the best D in the NFL. i dont give spit what stats they had last yr the werent the best D, that title belongs to baltimore and will do so until ray lewis decides to hang up his cleets. you clear on that now you skanky jet fan.

  85. overkil2 says: May 24, 2010 10:55 AM

    @ Zinn
Are you a Jets fan? That post was too well thought out for you to be one. Finally someone that understand that moves in the offseason don’t mean anything until they start producing. How many teams made a move that they thought was terrific only to get a dud.
Regardless, it should be a good season in the AFC East.
Btw, Buffalo sucks. Just wanted to give you guys a little love since no one seems to talk about your team this offseason.
