Packers make Graham Harrell signing official

First reported by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel on Wednesday evening, the Packers officially brought Mike Leach’s old buddy Graham Harrell back into the NFL on Thursday.

They signed the former Texas Tech quarterback and dropped quarterback Chris Pizzotti.

Harrell and Noah Shepard will battle for the Packers No. 3 quarterback job in training camp, although it’s more likely that both guys will get cut before the season.

Hope he’s not related to Justin.

Harrell has a noodle arm but I think he’s worth looking at.

True, the guy sucks and will get cut before the season starts. You know what means? The guy sucks, can’t play at the NFL level, and is now an ex Packer, it means the Vikings will sign him immediately.

Of course they will. Even when the Packers DO sign FA’s, they rarely plan to keep them. See Anthony Smith and Duke Preston last year. Two guys who could have helped with the Packers’ biggest problem areas, both cut before Week One.

The Packers are slowing becoming significantly irrelevant with each passing non-Favre season; much to my chagrin.

Duke Preston could have helped the Packers at OT last year BCS? Really? Your comments would carry more weight if you could get over your belief that EVERYTHING Thompson does is wrong.

I don’t believe everything Thompson does is wrong. Rodgers, Collins, Matthews all great picks, Woodson, enough said, getting rid of Favre helped immensely, a 6th rounder for Grant, and there are also many others.
However, in between the occasional good moves, we have Hawk, Harrell, Bush, Bush again, a perpetual postseason contender instantly reduced to 4-12, one playoff win EVER, what was once the greatest fanbase in football now split in two, and many, many other complete failures. That is unforgivable.
As for Preston, he is certainly nothing special. However, ANYONE could have helped that 50-sack OL last year. I am only 5′ 9″ and 185 and I am pretty sure I could have still made a difference. It was a complete disaster.
Is Preston an All-Pro? Hell no. Would it have saved Rodgers at least couple of hits if Ted hadn’t thrown him out in order to keep Jarrett “I couldn’t cover a” Bush, along with a mind-boggling THREE FULLBACKS?!! Absolutely.

Graham Harrell brought the most exciting football to Texas Tech we have ever experienced.
He hates to lose and will find a way to win.
This guy has fight – we didn’t realize what we lost until this last season – The Air Raid was shot down.

Anyone out there who does not think that Graham Harrell is the man is a fool. Graham Harrell is better than most of the QBs in the league. He is better than most of the first string QBs. You’ll see.

I assume you mean other than the obvious, the fact that he’s getting top 5 pick hype and money only to lose his starting job to a 4th rounder who washed out of f–ing ST. LOUIS?
In that case, I really don’t have one. He seems like a decent enough human being. He’s just a complete bust as a football player. Just as most OSU linebackers and Ted first round picks are.

He’s always the 4th guy to the tackle, what’s not to like?
