Report: Favre may have had ankle surgery this week

It may be time to change the question everyone is asking about Brett Favre and ankle surgery from “will he or won’t he” to “did he or didn’t he.”

John Holler of Scout.com reports, citing an unnamed source, that Favre may have already had the ankle surgery he reportedly needs before he can play in 2010.

The news that someone “may have had” surgery may seem like it’s not really “news” at all, but when it comes to Favre Watch 2010, we’re exploring every angle.

Scout.com reports that a professional athlete who is a patient of Dr. James Andrews called Andrews’ office Thursday morning to set up an appointment and was told that Andrews was “in Mississippi working with an old quarterback” this week to perform a procedure.

We’re not sure why Dr. Andrews’ office would be that specific, rather than just saying, “he’s out of town,” but that’s what the Scout.com report says.

Reports out this week said Favre hadn’t told the Vikings anything about his ankle. Last week there was a rumor making the rounds that Favre wouldn’t have surgery, but another report said he hadn’t made up his mind. In April it was reported that Favre needed ankle surgery, surgery that Favre described as “relatively minor.”
