WR is still not the issue in Denver. Too many question marks on defense to focus on the offense. Free agent signings in the offseason will make or break the Broncos season this year….
But D. Thomas was in a completely different system in college, there’s no way we’ll know what kind of NFL WR he’ll be. Gaffney had a good game against the Chiefs, but so did the entire KC offense. They won’t be able to win shootouts with the porous D we’ve come to expect. Really wouldn’t be surprised if Denver shocks the league and earns a playoff berth, or if they tank and sniff the butts of the entire league. Stop trying to analyze a team that’s still analyzing itself.

What most media people dont understand is the scheme of this offense. This leads to the public developing an inference about the broncos or macdaniels. This is a team game. You do not need a number 1 receiver in this offense. Any receiver can line up at any spots and be the number “1,2,3″ receiver. Its all about matchups and not being predictable. its all about running a combination of routes that exploits weakness in the opposing defender or defense. Example of this proof is the Patriots offense when they won their superbowls. They did not have a “1″ receiver. Team concept.

DeMaryius Thomas may be the most physically gifted player in this draft. 4.38 speed at 6-3.5, 230 pounds. Also one of the smartest. 34 on the Wonderlic. Top notch character and he is a good blocker already. Broncos made a lot of noise about Dez Bryant, but obviously this was the guy they wanted all along. I think he will be the best player to come out of this draft, along with Tim Tebow.

Here’s the funny thing about that statement: according to Football Outsiders, the guy who benefitted the most has been Brandon Marshall. All of his numbers were up SIGNIFICANTLY with Orton than they were with Cutler.

You have to realize this was with Pro Bowlers Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall. Cutler had the arm and accuracy to get it to Royal, who was usually open when Marshall was double teamed. Royal benefitted from having a great receiver across from him. It will be very tough to put up those numbers without a better QB or #1 WR, though he has potential

McD is a bad-ass. Not sure where all the hate is coming from, the guy has already revolutionized the game with his bad-assery. What other coach gets a team fired-up on National T.V.? McD and the Bronco beasts are looking to whip some mother-fu*king-ass while winning mother-fu*king-games. He knows what he is doing. Look for the Bronco’s to be a powerhouse in the NFL. There are a lot of good teams in the NFL and the Broncos are about to be a good football team.

Did you know he had a bunch of 100 yard games….. none of which we won.
So, good game for Marshall=loss for team.
You people seem to have no clue for why the broncos were and weren’t successfull last season. We lost Ryan Harris and Chris Kuper on OL. Would have needed a mobile qb to survive after that (week 7). Then our Defense could no longer stop the run with gimmick blitzes and teams exploited our sub-par D-line. These things have been rectified and we now have depth.
What McD is saying is the defense will dictate who is the primary target (definition of #1 reciever). Plenty of teams have won the Super Bowl without a #1 reciever. And if you Giant fans want to bring up Plaxico, I’ll remind you it wasn’t him that made that do or die catch. Also, how many times is the #1 reciever the MVP of the SB??? I can’t remember. Anybody?

Clearly your reading comprehension needs work. You will notice that he said in Marshall’s absence, meaning when Marshall did not play. In the only game that Marshall did not play, Gaffney had 14 receptions for 213 yards. That’s more yards than Marshall has ever had in a game and more reception than all but 2 game. I would say that is going off in Marshall’s absence but maybe you think that is just expected performance from Gaffney.

They had very talented 1st and 2nd round draft picks up and down both sides of the line. Denver just lost their stud in Clady. Finishing 2-8 last year, does not make this team look like it’s heading in the right direction and that was with the very talented Marshall.

Brandon Marshall did pretty good in his career but let’s face facts: he was a 4th round pick out of Central Florida that had 1 ok season and 1 outstanding season in 4 years. He didn’t exactly wow everyone his rookie year and last year after he was benched, Gaffney came in and had 14 catches for 213 yards.
Thomas did well in 3 seasons at Tech and when you consider the offense that he was in, he did damn good. 3 SOLID seasons and while he may not get 100, he can still do more than what Marshall did as a rookie.
The bigger problem is QB. Are they going to screw with Orton’s head and let him dangle or are they going to do the right thing and let him know that the job is his and let him move on. I know that they brought in Quinn but seriously, he’ll just screw it up like he did in Cleveland. It’s best to go with Orton, keep Quinn around in case an injury happens and groom Tebow for the future.

Whoever thinks that McDaniel’s won’t be coaching the Broncos for a long time better get their head examined. He is a good coach putting in a great system which will make him a great coach in 3 years….and then….all of you idiots will be saying, I told you so!!!!! Not all of his choices have been taken well to say the least….but really, Jay Cutler, he look’d great last year, Marshall???? he dropped way to many, now he has the money….it will be a burger king bag next time. I’m not sure that unloading a talented Quarterback and then very talented wide receiver is the best way to build a team. He got draft picks but unless those guys become stars his moves could lead to a short stay in Denver. The Denver Broncos did not make the playoffs and if they again miss the post season, Josh may be kissing Denver goodby. If Josh does not win the owner will be questioning weather he hired to big a personality.

Eddie Royal had almost 100 catches as a rookie.
Jabbar Gaffney had 14 the one game he replaced Marshall. DeMaryius Thomas and Ed Decker both come in more highly rated than Marshall was as a rookie. Steve Spurrier thought that Kenny McKinley was a better receiver than Sidney Rice. So it’s possible.
