I would rather have Kolb yelling at the offense and making sure they’re doing what they are supposed to do unlike McNabb who would clap his hands and say “my bad” after throwing a ball in the dirt.
Don’t get me wrong, Donovan WAS our franchise quarterback and he is also the best we’ve had ever but when it came down to it, he really did nothing for us. I don’t understand why people continue to say Andy Reid needs to go. His first draft pick as an eagle was mcnabb and that is why i believe in kolb because i trust andy when it comes to drafting players.

Andy isn’t going anywhere even if this is a bad season. But as a true Eagles fan–i haven’t been more optimistic about an upcoming as i am now–i see a 11-5 season with talks of Kolb making the pro-bowl. I think we needed a guy that lights the fire under his players–we def missed the fire on D last year with Dawkins gone.

I like an intense QB. Means he’s driven to success. I loved 5 but he was never a good fit for this offense. Kolb is.

In the last 2 weeks, this guy has told us:
Senneca Wallace is WHITE.
Warrick Dunn was never came close to 1000 yards in Tampa & was never any good w/o MV.
Brady, Manning & Brees all are “out of date” & MV is Mr NFL.
There is a “secret” plan in place to have Kolb fail so Andy Reid can bring is his “real QB”.
There isn’t one single individual that posts here that knows less about football & the NFL than this guy. Every single thing this this guy posts is racial hatred, nothing he ever posts makes any sense, it’s all meant (as he has said) to “make you mad”. If that were the case, Reverend Al, Mike would have been given an extension past this year and Kolb wouldn’t have. Just follow the money.
Barring injury to Kolb, Vick will never…..repeat : NEVER…start at QB for the Philadelphia Eagles, regardless of Kolb’s performance. NEVER.

Really VoxVagina? McNabb lasted 11 years in Philly. How many QBs last that long in one place these days? When was the last time a QB lasted that long as a starter in NY, DC, or Dallas? I agree that McNabb’s attitude helped him deal with the stress of being a starting QB in Philly, but there’s more than one way to deal with stress. Different methods work better for different people.

I love how all of these people claim to know Eagles fans better than we know ourselves. I’m glad you’re all such experts. gibsonplyer seems to have the best take on the issue here. I agree with you gibsonplyer, McNabb was at his best when he was loose and smiling. I don’t think that helped him with a lot of Eagles fans, however. Many Eagles fans are big on passion, which is one of the main reasons that Reid hasn’t gotten the respect he deserves either. Reid is simply too laid back for many Eagles fans. If Kolb is a little more aggressive and vocal, I don’t think that will hurt him with the fans at all. Oh, and you’re right about how McNabb didn’t get the respect he deserved from a certain segment of the fan base. For all the talk of dirt balls, McNabb holds the record for most consecutive completions. His td to int ration was top notch, and he was productive throughout his career (even when he didn’t have much to work with). I wish the best for McNabb (except when playing the Eagles), but I’m also willing to give Kolb a chance to prove he can make the offense his own. I’ve heard some reports that the younger offensive playmakers respond well to him in the huddle. If so, that’s a great sign.
Vick will have an expanded role in the offense (more wildcat plays), which is something Reid has already discussed. Yes, Vick is also insurance, but the Eagles aren’t looking to give up on Kolb any time soon. They gave him that new contract because they like what they see in him. If he smells blood in the water, I’m sure Vick will try to show he should be the starter. He wants to be a starter more than anything right now, and it’s not like there are any teams better than the Eagles that are interested in him. I really don’t expect that to happen, however. As I said, the FO really likes Kolb.

Yes, just because a guy is loose and relaxed doesn’t mean he doesn’t care or isn’t good. This is a tough game and you’re going to make mistakes sometimes. We’ll see how good Kolb does, but Mcnabb is a damn talented QB and no amount of negative m’f'ers can take that from him. HTTR.

This is the smartest post I’ve ever seen on this site regarding the Eagles’ QB drama. Rosenthal was right when he said there were many ways to win. If barking at your team was the only path to the Super Bowl, Dan Marino would have more rings than he could fit on his fingers and toes. Let’s see how Kolb actually, oh I don’t know…PLAYS before we anoint him a champion. I hope like hell he is. But I don’t see why he should be anointed one because he grimaces and the other guy smiled.

@voxvagina not even close, there was pressure because mcnabb always screwed up. always. he was the source of most of our problems (like 4 cship losses and a sb loss). theres gonna be pressure on kolb not because thats the way philly is but because we have so much invested in him and hes following one of the most disappointing qbs of all time (second only to tarkenton) and we want something to make up for 10 wasted years with nothing to show but a lot of passing yards and a lot of disappointing finishes. if kolb plays bad, idk bout you but im forgiving him because i know that it could be worse. philly wont do the same, they boo any bad play. i know because i do it too. but later i forgive the player. and btw a few boos wont get kolb to want out…hes got thicker skin than mcnabb did

Kolb’s confidence will be easily shaken by a string of bad games. Philly fans aren’t sold on this guy yet. You’ve got to love idiot fans that don’t know what’s going on with their team.
Bigbluedevil: Its the rookie camp. Kolb is throwing to a bunch of guys who won’t be on the team and will be the 4th/5th WR at best. Jackson, Maclin, Avant, Celek are not in camp. Huge failure on your part in actually understanding what is going on and jumping to conclusions.
And yes Vick is getting a different offense to run. Its called the Wildcat. Yippee.
Maybe Reid has always liked Vick. But guess what that same story goes for Kolb. I think he followed this guy either through high school or coming out of high school. He scouted him for years before that draft.
As for the anti-McNabb stupidity. I’ve challenged people before and have yet to get a response. Show me when McNabb has actually smiled after a INT. Until I see proof it has never happened.
Dirt balls. Yeah watch any other team play for once and you’ll see other QBs have the same problem. Donovan did have a little more tendency to do it now and again but you people act like it was all he ever did.
If anyone actually paid attention McNabb always played at his best when he was loose and smiling. That was his thing. When he wasn’t smiling that was when you knew you were in trouble because he wasn’t relaxed, he was going to press, and it would be a struggle until he got loose again.

Kolb knows how to talk to the media, i mean not as the starting QB but by having to be the #2 guy for so long he handled himself well. Even when people were asking do you wanna start? hows it being the backup? why not a new contract?
blah blah blah….the guy is gonna command this offense and make everyone( INCLUDING HIMSELF) accountable..its not a horrible trait to have. Yeah, the philly media will prob have a field day here and there when Kolb points out what went wrong in a game
….but i would MUCH rather have that kind of attitude than some Giggle Happy in the turf or over your head throwing QB
PS Vick is going to be a good role player for the team, thats it…he isnt going to take over the QB job this season for anymore than 15 plays a game.
