Jackson says Lynch is missing out on learning Bills’ playbook

Despite vowing a return to beast mode and a return to organized team activities, Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has been absent all week. And fellow running back Fred Jackson says every day Lynch misses is a day he’s falling further behind his teammates in learning new coach Chan Gailey’s playbook.

You’ve got to be here to pick up the playbook,” Jackson said, per Tim Graham of ESPN.com. “That’s the No. 1 thing that he’s missing out on.”

Jackson supplanted Lynch on the Bills’ depth chart last season, and now both of them are going to compete for carries with first-round draft pick C.J. Spiller. Lynch’s absence is probably good for Jackson, but Jackson says he’d like to see Lynch attend voluntary workouts.

“It’s just one of those things you know, as a professional, it’s voluntary, but at the same time you want to be in the best situation as possible,” Jackson said. “The best situation is being here so you know what you’re supposed to be doing when you’re out on the field.”
