Vonnie Holliday says Haynesworth will have to work hard when he shows up

The impasse between the Redskins and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth continues.  And while we continue to think that the Redskins are only a torn ACL to a 4-3 defensive tackle with another team away from getting what they want in trade for Haynesworth, the Redskins continue to operate under the assumption that he’ll show up.  Eventually.

When he does, it won’t be easy.  The team’s newest defensive lineman, Vonnie Holliday, spoke Wednesday about the challenges Haynesworth will face.

“He’s a tremendous talent,” Holliday said in remarks distributed by the team.  “He can play this game.  The 3-4 defense is a lot different than a 4-3.  So it is a matter of once he does get here, he’s going to have to really, really put in a lot of work.  Like I said, a guy with that kind of talent, his size and quickness, he’s a guy that once he gets here it’s going to take a lot of work on his part to get caught up.”

Holliday’s remarks presume that Haynesworth eventually will show up.  We’ll believe it when it happens.

Maybe the rest of the defense, that has been working hard to learn the new defense, will welcome him with a blanket party.

“it’s always heartening to know that I could drop dead and the site would actually be better off”
    - I think that your previous post about yourself and PFT or whatever could be used for Haynesworth and the Redskins. Haynesworth drops dead and the Redskins are actually better off. I know it sounds messed up and this should more or less be aimed at Boysroll turd. The 6’5 255 pound dork who does his share of the ass kicking! How bout them Boys!!! LMFAO

The skins should trade Haynesworth to BP, see if his fat ass can’t stuff that hole.

Maybe if they get an in-stadium Krispykreme, he’ll be there quicker……….
Vonnie Holliday talks in circles, by the way- He gushes about what a great player fatass is, then says how hard it’s going to be for him to catch up………
sounds like he’s toeing the company line, I guess.

Does anyone know if he would be in breach of contract if he did not show for mandatory workouts? Could we do anything about his contract or get some money back if he didn’t show?

As a Redskins fan I’d like to see Hayensworth participate in OTAs but let’s be realistic. If Kevin Williams, Haloti Ngata or Vince Wilfork were cut and became available just before training camp, not one coach would tell their front office, “it’s too late for them to learn their role in our defense.”
OTAs are useful, but there are lot of players on a lot of different teams who aren’t participating in voluntary activities. Haynesworth isn’t doing anything unusual. The current attendance at Redskins Park is the unusual thing.
If the coaches can’t get an eight-year veteran up to speed during training camp and four pre-season games they’re not good coaches.
I really hope Shanahan can turn the franchise around, but his “voluntary activities are mandatory” attitude will wear thin very quickly. He is in a honeymoon period this year. The players are responding, after living through a regime with lax discipline, but it will wear thin soon enough.
