Kiwanuka's brother in critical condition after motorcycle crash

The brother of New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka is in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle while the two rode together on Friday afternoon in their hometown of Indianapolis.

Channel 6 news in Indianapolis is reporting that Mathias and his brother, Benedict Kiwanuka, were riding their motorcycles just after 2 p.m. on Friday when Benedict struck a car pulling out of an apartment complex. Witnesses told investigators that the brothers were speeding before the crash.

Mathias Kiwanuka was not seriously hurt, and neither was the woman in the car.

How would a woman in a car be hurt by a motorcycle? She’s IN A CAR! That’s why motorcycles are stupid and the people on them are ignorant.
Was this genius wearing a helmet, or did he “Roethlisberger” it?

  2. SpankyMcWanky says: May 28, 2010 5:45 PM

Wow, do these football players learn anything? Riding motorcycles? Didn’t he hear of Ben Roethlisberger? Aren’t there clauses in these players contracts that prohibit them from participating in potentially hazardous activities like riding motorcycles?

I’d say that Mathias Kiwanuka was probably “seriously hurt”.

  4. wxwax says: May 28, 2010 6:04 PM

Damn. I hope he makes it, with a full recovery.
I ride, and the most dangerous situations are cars pulling out of driveways and cars making a left turn in front of you.
People’s brains are thinking car, not motorcycle, and even though they see you, you don’t register on their brains and they drive right into your path.

4 game suspension for having a brother involved in bad pub for the nfl, think that is fair

Wishbone, you are very ignorant! I ride a motorcycle and it is my choice. I truly feel sorry for you.
Readingrugby, I am with you 100%. It goes both ways. Most motorcyclists that do not respect others around them likely will end up underneath a car. I take every precaution when riding. The difference between a motorcycle and a car is that it is almost guaranteed that at some point in a motorcyclist life, he or she WILL go down. Its the damn kids on the crotch rockets that give us a bad name!

    ????????????????
Cause some old dude in a parking lot says they were speeding, doesn’t mean they were. Motorcycles always look and sound like they are going faster than they are. And calling Bikers idiots is a GROSS Generalization. Not everyone who rides a Cycle acts like Hells Angels.
Here’s hoping God is with Mathias and his brother and everything turns out okay.

That’s why I have a car. You’ll never see someone in a car speeding around, driving like a maniac.

People in cars can be injured in accidents with bikes.
A co-worker of mine was hit by a car as a pedestrian and went through the windshield, severely injuring the driver. The driver and pedestrian both had massive head injuries.

  12. The Real Shuxion says: May 28, 2010 9:16 PM

    Hope the brother recovers.
    That being said.
Does Mathias blame Bush and Limbaugh for the accident?

  13. Tony Snow says: May 28, 2010 9:27 PM

Hope he pulls thru! :( .
@wxwax… You have to factor in “Vision” in that equation, too. Just because someone is looking at you, doesn’t mean they see you!

  14. steelersfanineaglescountry says: May 28, 2010 10:54 PM

hate seeing anyone hurt riding a bike, like stated any bike in an accident something is always blamed on the bike. It doesn’t matter that someone pulls out while texting and eating a burger it still the bikers fault.
Just a quick point there are more accident with motorcycles of people over 40 on cruisers than there is crotch rockets. The crotch rockets just mike better news stories

This story will be dead by tomorrow afternoon. When Mathias Kiwanuka goes speeding on a bike with his bro, and there’s a serious accident, no one on the blogs or in the media is going to pay more than passing interest — I mean, it wasn’t like the dude’s name was Roethlisberger
If Florio ran Mathias Kiwanuka stories all day long, it would kill the PFT site traffic

    The Real Shuxion,
Pretty low to bring your ignorant ass comments in to a post like this. Are you that retarded that you need to state your moronic political views on a post about some guy possibly dying in a bike accident? Would love to hear you views on politics so I could verbally bitch slap you across the face you dumb bastard.

Sad that this happened and surprised Kiwi was riding while under contract to play football after the Kellen Winslow and Big Ben issues.
@The Wishbone – you sound like a winner. Congrats! (This is called sarcasm…but don’t take my word for it….tell him Lavar)
@Final Word – you should probably check your generalizations before you make a fool of yourself. When you see this “damn kid and his crotch rocket” on the road giving you a “bad name” he just so happens to be a responsible person, a white-collar medical professional, and a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Rider Coach. Its people like you and your “loud pipes save lives” and “repeal helmet laws” propaganda (see I can make broad non-fact based assumptions as well champ…) that make us look bad.

  18. bluebomber says: May 29, 2010 1:09 AM

@ndnjabali – funny joke there with the donor cycles. Actually, the ratio of drivers of cars and fatal injuries vs ratio of motorcyclists and fatal injuries shows the donors are in the four-wheel vehicles. We have shown a significant trend in decreasing motorcycle accidents and fatalities, almost as large as those leaps and bounds made by commercial truck driver. Car drivers, however, have shown an increase in injury and death over the last five years. The moron you see is in the mirror bud. Enjoy!

  19. Zaggs says: May 29, 2010 2:11 AM

Don’t see speeding being responsible for the crash if that actually happened. Mainly because there is no skid marks from the braking at a high speed. Also the bike is in the far lane, so either the car hit the bike on its side or the woman seriously whipped out of the complex. The fact that the road the brothers were traveling didn’t have a stop sign or light, they had the right of way and hence was the woman’s responsibility to look out for oncoming traffic.

So you’re driving along in your Pinto, and some woman pulls out in front of you and you hit her. By your own logic, your Pinto is stupid and you are ignorant because someone else pulled out in front of you, and you hit them.
    Sound about right?
What the f— difference does it make what kind of vehicle someone is driving? If you’re in the flow of traffic and someone blindly pulls out into that flow of traffic, resulting in a collision, guess who’s fault it really is 99% of the time? Take all the time you need to figure it out, you piece of shit.

Ever heard of the “just world fallacy”? It’s a classic form of irrational reasoning that leads people to leap to blaming victims in any tragedy.
We do it because, on some deep level, it makes us feel safer:”that guy was doing something stupid, therefore he brought it on himself, therefore something like this could NOT happen to me or the people we love.” (Remember when Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her own bedroom in her locked home? And people tried to blame her parents for putting her at risk — on the grounds that their bedroom wasn’t near enough to hers? It’s like that.)
For some reason this comes to mind when a man is tragically injury in a crash where HE HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY, and the response here is “he was an idiot.”
Best wishes to the Kiwanuka family.

    Wuking
I’ve been an AMA member for over 20 years, I read alot on thru there magazines and other cycle magazine about the accidents. There was a large upswing in the over 40 crowd buying motorcycles and jumping on them with out proper training and going out having accidents. This usally comes up when someone tries to ban sport bikes.
Either way it doesn’t matter you just have to be careful out there because people don’t look and don’t see cycles. I was almost hit today in a parking lot by someone backing out and I was driving a full size pickup.

Hey Wishbone, You are the ignorant one. People in cars HAVE been killed by motorcycles hitting them. You can find pictures on the internet that show what can happen. Your comment that motorcycles are stupid shows just how stupid you are. You should keep your opinions to yourself. That way, no one would know just how much of a dumba*s you are.
