Last week, Saints safety Darren Sharper reacted to the news of Vikings quarterback Brett Favre’s ankle surgery by saying, “X marks the spot.”
On Thursday, Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said what we had said when Sharper first started marking spots with Xs. Sharper had knee surgery in the offseason, so he’s got an X, too.
Now, Sharper has responded. “So visanthe stankoe X marks the spot on me, how
bout X marks the spot for how many catches and TDs you’ll have come
Thursday night,” Sharper said on his Twitter page. “X = zero.”
Then Sharper decided to make it interesting. “If you feeling yourself put your game check on it,” Sharper said. “No TDs and less than 3 catches you give me your game check. Now whose
talking.”
The
league office probably isn’t thrilled with players talking about betting game checks. We’ve got a feeling that Sharper will be getting a polite reminder that he’d be wise to not take that bet.
If that happens, the league office would be doing Darren a favor. Shiancoe had four catches for 83 yards against the Saints in the NFC title game, and we’ve got a feeling Sharper’s effort to stir the pot with Favre and Shiancoe is going to backfire.
LOL, Brett Favre and the Vikings start the game with 3 short swing passes to Shiancoe totalling 10 yards.
Sharp as a marble
If Sharper had been smart he would have offered the bet but the loser donates their check to NFL charities. Then he could have had his fun and the league wouldn’t have said anything.
Roman numeral X =10. I’m thinking we were taught that in 2nd or 3rd grade. Not that I really care. GO LIONS!!!!!
Shiancoe is going to get caught with his pants down, wait….
Love it!! Come on Sept!!
Damn, why do I want to wish away my summer?!?!?!?
Oh yeah, because idiot DoDo Smith will surely have the NFL locked out in ’11!!
This is going to be the most highly anticipated opening game that I can remember. Should be a good one. Geaux Saints!
What if Shancoe replies by saying “let’s wait to see if Farve comes back first”
That’s funny. I can’t believe a player like Sharper who just signed a 1 year, can get cut anytime contract, would put that much on the line. I guess when your days are numbered you have to gamble big….Props.
Shiancoe/Farve combo is a beast. Sharper doesn’t remember how bad the Vikings destroyed their defense offensively. Come on just look at the yardage difference 475 to 257… They were just fortunate enough that the Vikings made enough mistakes.
wtf are those two jokers talking about?
Sharper is such a dirtbag.
Can’t wait until Favre torches the Saints. I really hope Shiancoe takes this bet. They could EASILY game plan to get Shiancoe 8 or 9 catches and a couple TD’s, although he probably will get that anyway.
And Darren, do you happen to remember this?

How about this?

The concussed db with slobber all over his face is going to be you next time, pal.
All Sharper does is talk. Guy can’t tackle a running back in the open field to save his life and gets beat deep twice for every interception he comes up with. Shiancoe is quickly becoming one of the best tight ends in the league. Sharper better watch out on Sept. 9.

X could equal anything in algebra, in calculus don’t you set x equal to zero? He could be right, but I don’t remember, lol. I have been out of school too long.
Saints won’t beat the Vikes again, mark it down. And I’m not even a Vikes fan. You take away those 5 turnovers and they would have put up 50 pts or more.
“Saints won’t beat the Vikes again, mark it down. And I’m not even a Vikes fan. You take away those 5 turnovers and they would have put up 50 pts or more.”
Funny how when you take away positive plays from 1 team, the other team magically looks better. Weird.
You do realize you can play 2 games featuring the exact same teams and not have the same outcome, right? Minnesota beat Chicago by 26 but then lost by 6 in OT to the same Chicago team. That’s pretty piss-poor logic you’re using.
Hey Sharper you are a washed up dull tool. As my old coach used to say to my team: The Vikings are going to rub the Aint’s little dicks in the dirt! or turf. SKOL! MISSION DALLAS! SKOL!

Do you really expect people to just take the turnovers away, because you say they won’t happen?
I would think that with All Day fumbling all day long, and the all time int leader throwing, that turnovers are pretty likely to happen.
LOL at all the people saying garbage about Sharper. Shiancoe isn’t capable of tying Sharpers shoes. Ya, Sharper sucks…..LOL…. He only was one of the most dominant people at his position last year. Him and Favre should both be retired with how old they are, but they continue to play great.
I’m going to make a statement. At the end of his career almost nobody will know who Shiancoe even is, but Sharper will be a very well known player.
And for the record, I can’t stand either of these teams.
“They were just fortunate enough that the Vikings made enough mistakes.”
————————————————-
Turnovers are often forced more than they are given.
4th and 26, and the 49er touchdown (after the Rice fumble) in 1998 where all on Sharper.
I can’t remember this much personal hype for any regular season game. This is awesome. Assuming Brett returns, I think this game will break the ratings record set by Brett vs. the Packers (both of ‘em).
If they promote this show properly closer to the date, throw in the fact this is the first NFL game of the year, with Super Bowl champs and I call 40 milion viewers average.
why would shiancoe want to bet something as big as his game check for something as small as sharper’s
I guess with odds it would be a fair bet
People seem to be talking a lot of garbage on Sharper, a guy who just had an All Pro season to make that a total of 5 in his career.
Stank-hoe has how many of those under his belt?
remember folks, Sharper and Schiancoe are buddies…
Sharper does talk the talk… but he walks the walk (and he’s got the “Ring” a ding bling to prove it)with 9 interceptions on the year(including 3 returned for touchdowns) and broke the NFL single season record with 376 pick return yards previously held by Ed Reed(358)…Shiancoe is one of the better TEs in the N.F.L and if Farve comes back it will be a good rematch…looking forward to see it…hopefully some good charity organization will gain from all this…
They should be betting their game checks for charity.
Bet he will not be any sharper this year as VININGS are going to ring some bells
bet he will no be any sharper this year as the VIKINGS are going to ring some bells
The better bet would be that Shiancoe can’t keep little Visanthe off the interwebs.

YES! something most viking and packer fans can agree on: Sharper is the most overrated defensive player in the league.
After the contract he got stuck signing due to ZERO FA interest… Sharper just needs the money.
All it’s going to take is for Brent to plant wrong and WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH… there goes the Viking season.
I have a feeling we’ll be hearing “DOWN GOES FAVRE! DOWNNN GOESSSS FAAAAAAAAVRE!!!” early on.
…but hopefully we all get to hear it at Lambeau.
GO PACK GO!
This has probably already attracted the attention of the League Weenies whose job it is to Lurk & Peer. They’re surely going to be looking out for naughty behavior during that game. If either team decides to go over the top on this issue, it’s gonna backfire on both of them.
Of course, some folks could still profit by the situation, i.e., the people who start betting on which team is going to LOSE THE MOST!
Whole thing is stupid, any way you look at it.
Packer fans are bitter they aren’t playing in a nationally televised game to kick off the season. You guys can get in on the act of trash talking when your team proves it can play with us.
what’s with this x marks the spot nonsense…”oh he x marked the spot on me??” this is retarded
At least when Ocho talks trash he backs it up…….Sharper wasn’t wanted by 32 teams and becuz every other nfl team realized (from watching tape) that Sharper is a much bigger liability on the field than asset, the saints signed him again for a …….song, and only a 1yr deal at that, meaning he could even get cut. Sharper can fool the saints fans with his b.s. but not 31 other teams and intelligent football fans.

You must be an engineer with BP…
Saints caused turnovers all season long. Vikings fans let it go you lost. You will never win the Superbowl, you need to look at your teams short comings instead of blaming your loss on the reefs. Peterson and harvin can’t hold on to the ball. Favre makes poor decisions with the game on the line and your coach is a pussy a
t decision making.
Ok, I will admit it, we (Vikes) gave that game away. Congrats Saints. To say that you caused all of those turnovers…bull crap! Your defense played dirty and for that, your whole frickin team is going to have an X on it! Congrats, you got your Super Bowl, but I for one am glad you got it so the rest of the world can stop hearing all of this crap about the damn Saints! Enough of this feel-good crap that the league clamors to: they are a multi-million dollar generating game people, not the second coming of Christ. So, it is time to get over yourselves and your Who Dat!
Sharper is overrated? Really? How many INT’s and pick 6′s does a player need to get for you guys to realize that you sound rediculous? You can refer to last year or his overall carreer, since both apply here. It’s fine if you don’t like the guy, but you cannot honestly believe that he is over rated with stats like that.
As for the idiot who referred to the 5 turn overs in the NFCCG as “mistakes”, that is just laughable. In peewee football, those can be called mistakes, but 5 turn overs by an NFL team who is one game away from the Superbowl means that despite allll those yards that the Vikes put up, they still got outplayed by the Saints defense. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again…yards mean nothing if you can’t cross the goal line!
I love it I love I love…
WHO DAT….

Read the article again, Sharper never says that if Shiancoe gets over 3 catches that he’ll give him his check. That’s what you call a weenie. Not to mention Sharper is too dumb to realize NOBODY wanted him and multiple teams will still sign Favre in a heartbeat. And of course, Sharper has to actually run and cut and tackle, Favre takes 5 steps and throws. I’m betting Sharper will do none of those things well and be cut in a month. GO HOME SAINTS!!! No one cares about you and your “where’s my guvmint” attitude. Earn what you get instead of having it given to you.

Seems to me, this was said last year too. Keep saying it, it might just come true.
Down goes favre? Charlie, we don’t want to hear about your sexual fantasies….
Vikings fans… As you are all crybabies, do you use your tears as lube while jerking off to your superbowl dreams?
Obviously Saints had less offensive yards because we dominated in special teams, and due to turnovers we had short fields.
Most overrated defensive player in the 2ndary is Charles Woodson. Sharper will get more catches and tds than “stankoe” come week 1
Remember stankoe was saying he was gonna do the Sharper shake after he scored before the game started… Worked out well huh?
Vikings Fans = Pillow Biters!!!
Who Dat!
Sharper is a moron and has never been good at talking trash.
Far be it from me to defend the Vikings, but Sharper just made himself look like an idiot in that entire exchange.
“If you feeling yourself put your game check on it,” Sharper said. “No TDs and less than 3 catches you give me your game check. Now whose talking.”
that happened only twice in 18 games last year. looks like a sure bet for Shiancoe to me
If the Saints have a disappointing season, at least the fans know where to go to dull the pain.
So it looks like Vikings’ players are bigger pussies than their fans.
ignoringthehaters: sounds like you’re the hater here. Give up that Rush Limbaugh Sean Faggity talk.
Do you work for BP?
” “If you feeling yourself put your game check on it,” Sharper said. “No TDs and less than 3 catches you give me your game check. Now whose talking.”

Shiancoe had only 11 TDs last year so it happened far more than 2 times. “And” indicates both must occur, meaning he would have to have at least 1 TD AND at least 3 catches. That happened 11 times in 18 games last year.
Surprise, Florio takes the BiQueens side in this one.
It amazes me how much crying the Hypequeens fans do–you’d think after all those years of being losers, after 4 cataclysmic (yet predictable) collapses in Super Bowls, after cleaning all the dust and cobwebs out of their trophy case year after year after year–that one day, FINALLY, they’d learn to lose with a bit more grace and dignity.
I mean, practice makes perfect, right?
Instead, we hear CONSTANT crybaby b!tchery and far-fetched, irrational excuse-making:
“We gave that game away…”
“If it weren’t for the turnovers…”
“The refs blah blah…”
“Saints got lucky…”
“Saints played dirty…”
“But the yardage…”
“The league/media owed New Orleans a Super Bowl…”
“The league won’t do this…Pawlenty won’t do that…”
Blah f*cking blah.
Take your purple & yellow fairy dresses and your faggy swiss-miss wigs off and act like MEN for once–stop making sorry, flimsy excuses for your crappy play and accept being the LOSERS you are.
RCIV- Put the sexual spin on your wife for a change… she’s wearing me out brutha.
This year your Vikes can pick on a Packers team with a solid pass rush and a quality O-Line. We all know what happens when the pressure is put on Favre. Just ask Tracy Porter.
Of course you have the feeling its going to backfire. It Brett Favre went on live TV and killed a puppy, you’d post an article about how awesome it was. See, you’re a whore for Favre, just like all the other media stooges.

Glad she’s wearing ou out, gives me more time with my GF.
You man the solid pass rush of a defense that gave up almost 600 yards to the cards in WC game?
And, the OL that reverted back to giving up 5 sacks a game to the cards?
Somehow, The Pack doesn’t scare me this year.
Their record against above.500 teams last year was 2-4. This year there are 9 teams that posted a.500 or better winning %.
Good luck with that.
Packers finish either tied with the Bears or in 3rd place this year.
I put them both around 7-9.
TT and MM get the boot.

You do realize that was Fox Sports’ doing, right? It’s not like he took a shower on ustream like someone else did. Btw, could someone explain why reporters are even in the locker room when the players are getting showered and changed? They can talk to them before they go into the locker room, and the teams make any player the reporters request available after they’re done in the locker room. So, exactly what major story do they think will happen between the time they go into the locker room and when they come out. Maybe, “breaking news, after catching 8 passes for 122 yards and 2 TDs, game MVP fumbles the shampoo bottle in the shower”. Come on, give these guys some privacy. The Shiancoe incident alone should have been reason enough to boot all of the reporters (and especially their cameras) out of the locker room. One of these days, I want to see Chad and his OCNN crew do some surprise live reports from the bathrooms of some of these reporters. See how they like it.
