Adam Vinatieri says he’s healthy

The hip and knee injuries which forced Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri to miss most of last season and ultimately watch the Super Bowl from the sidelines have improved.

Everything’s healed up and looking good,” Vinatieri said earlier this week at OTAs. “The entire off-season, we’ve been working on strengthening everything back and making sure I’ll be ready for a long season. Things have been moving in exactly the direction we wanted to go.”

For the first time since he was an undrafted rookie from South Dakoka State, Vinatieri may not be assured of a roster spot this year. He appears to be the heavy favorite to win the Colts kicker job over Brett Swensen, but Vinatieri’s struggles on kickoffs means he has some work to do.

Proving he’s healthy is a big start.
