Eagles say Marlin Jackson ruptured an Achilles tendon

Silva pointed out earlier today that Eagles cornerback Marlin Jackson suffered a potentially serious leg injury during practice on Tuesday.

And it indeed turned out to be serious.

Jackson has ruptured the Achilles tendon in his right leg. The team announced the diagnosis after an MRI confirmed the injury.

Jackson possibly will be placed on injured reserve. Last month, Steelers receiver Limas Sweed suffered a similar injury, and not long thereafter he was shelved for the entire season.

The alternative would be to place Jackson on the Physically Unable to Perform list at the start of the season, and then to assess the situation in the window that opens in Week 6 to activate the player for up to three weeks of practice before determining whether he’ll be added to the active roster or placed on injured reserve.
