Kokinis returns to Ravens' front office

In March we noted that former Browns G.M. George Kokinis could return to the Ravens. Today that’s what happened.

Kokinis, who was the Ravens’ Director of Pro Personnel from 2003 to 2008, will now be a Senior Personnel Assistant.

It’s good to have George back,” Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome said in the team’s announcement. “George knows the game, understands what it takes to win, and he will help us find players who will help us win. He has done that before for us.”

The Browns fired Kokinis during the 2009 season after less than a year on the job.

The Ravens also announced that Mark Azevedo was promoted to Area Scout for the Southeast, Southwest and Midwest.

Hopefully his time off gave him the opportunity to actually read the NFL rules… Especially regarding rookies / injured reserve etc!!! Thy way he might keep his job this time around…

All the ravens haters and people who comment on this site who simply dont know anything about the nfl wont get this or believe it but we have one of the leagues best front offices. Teams keep coming after our coaches and front office people and it feels good to get one back.

Its strange how the Browns and Ravens have so many connections considering how much the Browns hate the Ravens. Weather its players or the front office the Browns still cant get ahead of the Ravens no matter what they do.

Believe it or not George isn’t at home please leave a message at the beep.

Now, fetch the Wiz some coffee…then, get to washing those jockstraps…”

I’m glad to see that Mangini’s towel-boy landed on his feet.
    Baltimore Ravens…once a proud franchise.
    Now…Cleveland’s dumpster.

kantnockdahustle89, strangely most browns fans don’t hate the ravens players or their fans…..it’s Art Modell who earns the hate and anger of Northeast Ohio. Enough beating that dead horse, or soon to be HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry….

Actually, Cleveland was a dumpster when he got there.

ModellsPimp- Jamal Lewis, Gary Baxter, Darnell Dinkins, Phil Savage, Kokinis all were former Ravens taken by the Browns. As well as the Browns trying to sign Bart Scott away.
Ravens have…Orlando Brown as the only one who was a former Brown.
Not sure how the Ravens are a dumpster of the Browns…seems to be pretty opposite.

    Forgot Derek Anderson as well…haha.

Really? How about the Ravens should have applied for Endangered Animal protection from the Federal Government for all the poaching the Browns did to the Ravens former front office staff and players
    Short List
    Savage
    Kokinis
    Gary Baxter
    Jamal Lewis
    Derek Anderson
    Cedric Peerman

Epic Failure as a GM. Repeat EPIC FAILURE. But Ozzie seems to know what he’s doing in Baltimore, so Kokinis is obviously better in a more limited role.
Kokinis was clueless to what the Browns were even doing. His interviews made him sound completely out of the loop and incompetent.

For a second, I thought it said he returned as a “personal assistant”
    Regardless the facts are:
    Ravens rules
    Browns suck

It must be nice for him to be working for an NFL franchise after spending time in Cleveland.
If I were the Ravens I’d look for additional compensation for losing Kokinis for a year… Mangini lied when he said Kokinis would have GM decision making authority. The Ravens wouldn’t have had to let him go for a lateral position move

Yes, I’m sure the Ravens wish they were nearly as successful as the Browns.

This list should start and END with Phil Savage. Hopefully Stallworthless does well for you guys, unless he breaks a nail and has to sit out 8 weeks.

@ArtModellspimp – you are a funny dude. We’re a dumpster for you? Have you seen the lists above? How many SB do you have in the last decade? How many playoff wins do you have in the last decade? How many times have you been in the playoffs in the last decade?
You have been sucking up our sloppy seconds for years. You overpaid Stallworth by millions and we got him for essentially the vet minimum. Wanna bet he catches 50 balls this year?
I realize you have a bigtime case of wannabetheravens. but sorry, you can’t. you are stuck being a browns fan. And after we win the AFCN this year and you finish again in last past remember this post and how much I will be ROTFLMAO at you.

    @peepeedoc13
First, I would like to ask you to please not post here unless you are sober…or have reached puberty. It’s pretty hard to tell which of those apply to you.
Second, I would like to thank you for letting me know that your chain can be yanked. My, but some girls cannot take a joke well at all.
Third, try not take things that are written so personally. When you respond the way you did, it makes you seem so much more retarded than you actually are, I’m sure.
Now that you have read…or at least attempted to read…my comments, please understand that none of this is intended to taken seriously. Now, if you were a Steelers fan, it would be an entirely different story.
Enjoy your crabcakes, my urologist friend. And work on your taxonomy, while you’re at it.

  20. GROWNsimba says: Jun 1, 2010 3:41 PM

Hey Art Modell’s Pimp you need to just stop. Everytime I see a Ravens post I see your name on here saying something dumb but when the fans hop on you all of the sudden you were joking. Your just an ignorant fan like I said in my first post. I read comments on this site more than any other sports site I visit because so many of you that comment have no idea what your talking about. Maybe thats why Florio ignores you idiots.

  21. ppdoc13 says: Jun 1, 2010 5:18 PM

@ATrmodelpimp – oh you are only joking….. not really. you said the exact same thing in a post about donte stallworth yesterday. nice try though. no, i don’t drink either. and no… well past puberty as a matter of fact it is my job to determine puberty on hermaphrodites like you. but only joking.
