The sharks swarm for Randy Moss

Over the weekend, Pats receiver Randy Moss threw a large bucket of chum into the water, making it known that he has no agent and that he’s looking for a new one.

And now the sharks have arrived.

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, top agents are jostling for a crack at Moss.  Per La Canfora, Moss will meet with at least one prospective representative this week.

La Canfora also says that the news sparked a flurry of efforts to track down Moss’ phone number.  But Moss has a reputation for changing his numbers with some degree of regularity (apparently, even rich guys buy TracFones), which makes it difficult for folks to find him.

Rumors surfaced on Saturday that Moss had parted ways with Tim DiPiero, who later issued a statement claiming that Moss intended to finish his career without an agent.

Amid persistent rumors that Moss was actually looking for a new agent, he called Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald and confirmed that, indeed, Moss is looking for new representation, ostensibly in the hopes of expanding his portfolio of off-field opportunities.

UPDATE:  Per Rapoport, Moss has lined up at least three appointments.

Maybe its because I’m in hockey mode, but the title made me think the San Jose Sharks were going after Randy Moss.

    Yes, they will definitely swarm.
Because Moss’s career may very well lead him into the Hall of Fame, being his agent at this time will involve endeavors well beyond his play on the field.
The money train won’t stop the day his playing days are over. Endorsements, appearances, not to mention his involvement in NASCAR, will keep the cash cow offering $ milk well beyond his playing days.

Does anyone else see the headline to the right under ‘NBC Sports Headlines’ over there >>>>>>>>>>>
“Hayes: Flyers in a hole, but that’s how they like it”
May I ask, “Who doesn’t!?” That’s just wrong. Who’s coming up with these titties. Titles, I meant titles.

    Good for Randy.
It has to be frustrating to look at a guy like Chad Ochocinco rake in the endorsement cash when he’s not even close in terms of talent.

Florio should step up and crawl out of his cubicle to represent Moss! Imagine the PWT updates.. Randy Moss is watching Nascar. Randy Moss is eating breakfast. Randy Moss is ….
Those would be better than the updates we get nowww… Very slow NFL offseason..
    “anyyyything isss Mossssiblee”

Drew Rosenhaus crushed a row of 14 player agents heads lined up in front of a restaurant washroom where Randy Moss was rumored to be taking a leak yesterday.

Probably his last significant-dollar contract. He’s getting up there……
Anyone ever notice how the Patriots won three Super Bowls before they acquired Moss and zero since……..
    I’m just sayin’………

I don’t get the shark analogy. You reached for what you thought was a snappy headline.

This is like the time that Vince fired Ari and had all those meetings only to realize that he loves Ari afterall.

Maaaannnn, alot of you guys really get upset about pro football players and their private lives. Moss gets rumblings, Favre gets tampon ejecting screaming fits. Theres no games for quite a while. Relax guys…

I’m told when agents ask how they’ll be paid the only reply is
    “STRAIGHT CASH HOMEY”

Here are Ochocinco’s career season averages: 76 receptions; 1105 yards; and 7 TDs.
Here are Moss’s career season averages: 77 receptions; 1205 yards; and 12 TDs.
And, Ochocinco is everywhere in terms of endorsements and publicity, and Moss is nowhere.
Now, what exactly has Moss done that was so terrible that almost no endorsement dollars roll his way, and which would you prefer for your team’s leading receiver — 12 TDs per season or 7 TDs?
And, by the way, which receiver with more than five years of NFL experience has averaged more TDs per season over that same time period as Moss?

dude, when I close my eyes I still see R. Moss killing the Packers and Cowboys wearing the horn. Moss is a stud and that meter maid should be fired for standing in the middle of the street. Just put the ticket on the car and move on, your not a cop.

I have nothing but admiration and thanks for this guy if he leaves the Patriots.
He will make someone better, by staying or leaving.
