Once the preseason starts, we’ll all get to see for ourselves how Tim Tebow looks in a Denver Broncos uniform, and we won’t have to speculate based on the tape of Tebow’s games at Florida.
But until then, it’s always interesting to see how people who have spent a lot of time studying that tape view Tebow. And Greg Cosell, the creator and executive producer of the NFL Matchup show that we hope has a future on television, came away unimpressed from his own film study of Tebow.
“On film, there is very little in Tebow’s game that projects well at this point to the NFL,” Cosell tells Ross Tucker in an interview at SI.com. “I could never draft a quarterback in the first round who does not show on tape the skill set and physical attributes that are demanded in the NFL.”
Cosell says that as a passer, Tebow simply isn’t on an NFL level.
“Number one, he has questionable and limited arm strength with a slow and ponderous delivery,” Cosell said. “Number two, in college he did not throw with timing or anticipation because the offense that he was in did not require it. In the NFL, there are certain throws in certain situations that necessitate that the ball is delivered before his receiver makes his break. He wasn’t asked to do that at Florida.”
In college Tebow was a threat with his feet as well as his arm, but Cosell says the way Tebow uses his feet doesn’t translate well to the NFL, either.
“Thirdly, pocket movement in the NFL is far more important than running,” Cosell said. “Pocket movement is the ability to move within the confines of an area about the size of a boxing ring while at the same time maintaining your downfield focus so you can deliver the football. Tebow did not exhibit that trait in college, probably because he was a runner. Nobody is a great NFL quarterback because of the way that they run.”
So Cosell doesn’t think Tebow has an NFL arm or NFL feet. We take it Broncos coach Josh McDaniels disagrees. And we look forward to finding out who’s right when Tebow gets on the field.
So basically Cosell talks up Jason Campbell and he had the same flaws that Tebow has. But Cosell gives JC a break because he had more than one OC. Cosell is a joke.
Cosell tells Ross Tucker in an interview at SI.com. “I could never draft a quarterback in the first round who does not show on tape the skill set and physical attributes that are demanded in the NFL.”
He;s right about one thing: he could never draft a guy. He isn’t in any team’s draft war room, and isn’t in a position to have to make the decision. It’s too early to tell whether the kid will have any success in the NFL. But, some guy who watches a lot of tape is in no position to predict it any better than we are.
Who would be in a better position? McDaniels for one…
Tebow will be out of the NFL in 3 years on to his second career of selling bibles….
Oh shut up Greg Cosell. Join the bandwagon of Tebow critiquing jerkoffs. Everyone is an expert. All the talking heads on ESPN, NFL Network, Sirus Radio, the pregame show hosts (the worst).
This is why I love PFT. I get the information and I get out. I
I’m tired of the Tebow debate, we will know soon enough if he can play or not. He has as much chance to succeed in the NFL as anybody else drafted in the 1st round. 50%. Until then everybody….Shut up.
I’m on record as saying Tebow will be a Pro-bowl QB in 5 years, and will have the best career out of this QB class.
One thing is for sure. It will give me a reason to catch a Bronco preseason game…
So how is this different than the other one million articles we’ve read time and time again about how Tebow will fail in the NFL?
Yawn.
I don’t know what’s news about this. Most talent evaluators have said this all along.
I’m one of the people who have agreed very much with Cosell. We need only mention recent names like Eric Crouch, Jason White, Danny Wuerffel, Chris Weinke etc. to know that being a Heisman QB does not immediately make you an NFL star. Tebow falls into that same class of outstanding college QBs who are missing some things that are needed in the NFL game. It is not to say that he cannot become a good quarterback, but to pick him in the first round was a real stretch.
That said, I find myself oddly pulling for the guy to prove people wrong.
I dissagree i think Tebow is the joke here.
Haha nice pick Broncos. May not be as many fans running around with Tebowners in the mile high city as there were in Florida.
Who the hell is Greg Cosell? From how hard he’s trying to sound smart, I gather he’s related to Howard? At least Tebow never lost his timeslot to the Shamwow guy.
I keep telling you all… big Christian sandals going straight up your poopshoot.
There’s a reason that Cosell is NOT coach!!!
Kind of a useless story here. Everyone before the draft agreed that Tebow didn’t show the skills he would need to make it in the NFL. He was drafted in the first round on the belief that he was a smart kid who could quickly learn how to play as an NFL quarterback.
Guess that’s why he’s one of the best GM’s ever….
Oh wait……….
Who is this guy again??
I automatically rule anyone that “talks up” Jason Campbell to be uncreditable. Tebow worked harder than any other collegiate athlete and he will bring that work ethic with him to the NFL. Because of all the criticism Tebow receives, you can call him a “first-round sleeper”, just wait.
You know your career is spiraling down the drain when 2 months after the draft you are still begging for some media coverage by trashing a draftee’s pro potential
Here’s my wager – Tebow is playing qb for a team long after Greg Cosell’s show has been taken off the air. Get some fresh takes Cosell – don’t you have some crap to say about how much Roethlisberger sucks? Look at Florio and the PFT crew – their riding that Big Ben mule for all its worth
Mean while Ozzie and and the Ravens are grinning
nebster21, you are a dumbass.
Hate on Cosell all you want, the only thing about Tebow is that he is a likeable kid and everyone wants to see him do well.
But he is what he is when it goes to playing at the next level! He needs to be converted to play TE or FB, his body is made for it and he is tough enough for the positions.
To play him at
Quaterback, gets an automatic HELL NO response from me!
Is any of the really new? I heard others say the same things months ago. Hey Cosell your a fricking genius for saying the same things we heard before the draft.
Let’s see: some dude who cannot figure out how to create a must-watch television show thinks that HE can figure out which players will/won’t make it. Is that right?
People said the same thing of Steve Young.
Maybe he should worry about his stank-ass show and leave the evaluations to PROFESSIONALS.
First of all, who the hell is Greg Cosell and why the hell do I care what he thinks?
Does Greg say “Tebow cannot play in the NATIONAL! FOOOOTBALLL! LEAGUE!!”?
If he can’t do that, what was the point of Uncle Howard getting him the job in the first place?
Bartkowski, Trestman, Wyche, and Marotte worked with Tim extensively this off season and to a man they think he can not only play, but star at the position in the NFL. Those guys have probably over 150 years combined coaching experience at the highest levels. Greg Cosell probably has 0.
tebow=fail for mchoodie
SORRY, u f-ed this one up!!!
You mean like Vince Young, Jamarcus Russell, etc….?
Too bad Tebow is white….
Tebow looked foolish in the Senior Bowl. He got dominated by Sean Weatherspoon, Daryl Washington and Tyson Alualu in that game. That will be a preview of things to come.
“…Tebow will come in a day when Cosell looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.”
The Book Of Tebow, V 4, Ch 11.
actually there Nebster, i’d say Tebow is the joke, as is McDaniels, can’t believe both my college and pro football teams have been run into the ground by some holier than thou head coaches
On one hand you have a guy who helped Tom Brady have a pretty amazing season, turned Matt Cassel and Kyle Orton from benchwarmers into very respectable starters saying Tebow can be a good QB, on the other you have a guy who makes a TV show.
I am going to go with the expert on this one until he has been proven wrong.
Did Greg Cosell predict that Tom Brady would “project” as a Hall of Famer? I doubt it. He’s just another hack, and you’re giving him attention. This is a Florio-like post, MDS.
It’s amazing how many people respect this guy’s opinion because he happens to be the late Howard Cosell’s nephew and because Ron Jaworski let him watch film with him a couple of times at NFL Films. Watching film with a retired NFL player doesn’t make you an expert anymore than some fan winning a day with a current NFL player and watching film with him that day. Sure , you know a little bit more than you knew before , but that isn’t much. Cosell knows about as much as the average fan. This old rant about Tebow has been going on for some time; there are people that probably said he couldn’t play at the college level when they saw his high school tapes. I have no connection to University of Florida, but I’ll take my chances anytime with the guy that won almost every game he played. And hey, if he can’t play, they’ll find out soon enough, but in a league that has so many Ryan Fitzpatricks and Marc Bulgers it’s hard to believe they’re singling out this guy as someone they think is a non prospect.
My money is easily on Cosell. He is by far one of the best evaluators of college talent and how that talent projects to the NFL. Won’t be surprised at all to see McDaniels unemployed and Tebow holding a clipboard two or three years from now.
“Nobody is a great NFL quarterback because of the way that they run.”
I still remember when Michael Vick was anointed by the media as the model for all future quarterbacks.
The media doesn’t have a clue what’s going on.
If Tebow would have been picked by anyone else, I’d be rooting for him. But since McDaniels picked him, I want him to fail, at least in Denver. McDaniels is such a tool. I look forward to his firing.
Greg Cosell? What rock did this guy crawl out from under? Non story Mike, all we want to know is if big Ben raped anybody in the bathroom at the Steelers OTA’s.
so he watches football alot and that makes him diff from any other fan that watches alot,gimmie a break,he has no better gauge than a joe schmoe,its always a gamble when a player enters the league. You know who had great arm strength and quick delivery,oh and good pocket presence,,,,jamarcus russell,so maybe he should just shut it
Most successful HC/ QB combinations have a QB who is an extension of the HC. According to McDaniels, there was an istant connection between himself and Tebow. Which could explain why McDaniels even considered drafting Tebow. Then when you add all of the things that Tebow is, it’s understandable why McDaniels drafted him.
Was Tebow a reach in the 1st round? Considering all of his shortcomings to be an NFL starting QB, maybe. But not too many years ago rookie QBs seldom were expected to start in their 1st year or two in the league. And were given that time to hone and develop their skills. And some, if not many, are at a disservice today when thrown into the fire during their rookie year.
All the negatives that Cossell mentions are all coachable and correctable with time.
Tebow is not your run of the mill average player. He’s intelligent. He’s athletic. He takes constructive criticisms well and uses them to better his performance. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to win. He’s aware of and admits to his shortcomings and is working on them.
Time will tell if Tebow can become the real deal. He might even be the reason McDaniels keeps or loses his job.
But Tebow will sell a ton of jerseys and merchandise until he is either proven or a proven bust. The NFL is a business and if the 2nd string QB can help make you some money… why not draft him?
So, a guy who actually played the game and broke down film like Jim Kelly has no credibility when discussing guys like Tebow per this site but a boob like Greg Cosell does? Seriously…..
———————————————–
This one always gets me. How did he work harder than anyone else when colleges are bound to specific requirements? Were you personally there watching him work? He did as much public speaking and speaking to prosioners as he did preparation for games. Don’t forget the yearly missionary trips. I know there are some solid receivers in Laos and the Philippines.
Sounds like the NCAA needs to investigate in Gainesville as we’ve got another Michigan deal going on with regards to practice hours. Since when did football become an individual sport? Notice his numbers dropped off when Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy left.
I agree with the technicalities Cosell pointed out from watching Tebow on tape from UF.
However.
Tebow will be getting something in Denver that he NEVER got at Florida, Quality QB coaching.
Combine Josh McDaniels’ track record with QB’s along with Tebow’s desire and work ethic and I think there is a good chance for success. I would not bet against this.

Oh my! Aren’t we self important!
I would give McDaniels the benefit of the doubt, if he had demonstrated so far that he has done anything personnel-wise to merit receiving the benefit of the doubt.
He has not.
JeMarcus Russell has the skill set to play in the NFL. He just lacked the desire. Everyone knows Tebow has a looooonnnggg way to go to become an NFL QB. But QB is the one position where you can reach and be patient with a player, because its the hardest position to find a good one.
Holy crap, someone actually thinks Tebow won’t be a good QB in the NFL? Wow, this is real news…!
Better QB ratings and stats than guys like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, yet he is going to fail miserably as a pro QB.
Good luck with that one!
Honestly, I don’t care one way or the other, because I am in no way a Bronco’s fan, but I have never read about a rookie quarterback who has taken as much flak as Tim Tebow. I mean, for crying out loud, give the kid a chance. He’s been condemned as a “bust” already by so many sports pundits and others, and he hasn’t even thrown an official NFL pass yet.
Plus it takes time for any rookie qb to come up to an NFL level with the exception of a very, very few. Just look at the stats of Hall of Famers John Elway and Troy Aikman for their first year or two. They played like “busts” back then. The Pokes went 1-15 during Aikman’s rookie season. I’m sure during those first two seasons there were many fans of both those teams crying for the heads of these two.
At least JaMarcus Russell had a three seasons to prove he was a huge(and very expensive)”bust.” And a lot of that had to do with Russell’s total lack of a work ethic.
Let’s just see what happens with Tebow. And give his some time to get the hang of this game. If he turns out to be a huge mistake then, ok, fry him on a burner. But give his a decent chance first.
Tebow vs. The Vikes pre season week 4…….
So tired of Tebow this/Tebow that. He and McDaniels are perfect for each other.. So sinks the ship in Denver.
of course, if one cant be a great qb just on running style… cosell did get one thing right.
that means vick aint got IT.
While I am not a Tebow fan in any way, McDaniels is one of the best couple QB coaches in the league. If anybody can turn him into an NFL QB Josh can.

McDoofus had VERY VERY LITTLE to do with Brady, very little, and what happened to Cassel after he wasnt surrounded by the same cast that Brady had?
Orton was respectable pre-McDoofus
your post is moot

In the NFL, there are certain throws in certain situations that necessitate that the ball is delivered before his receiver makes his break. He wasn’t asked to do that at Florida.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Roethlisberger has this problem too. He is not very good on timing patterns and can’t lead a receiver on a deep ball to save his soul. The Steeler receivers look like they should be waving for a fair catch as they wait up on Roethlisberger’s deep passes.
That’s why he has to scramble around and prolong the play in order to get a receiver more or less wide open.
Was Howard buried with or without his rug??
Bwahahahaha! Well done! :applause:
Another repeated loser taking stabs at Tebow from the cheap seats. Tebow does have what it takes to make it in the NFL. Greg Cosell, the creator and executive producer of the NFL Matchup, does not have what it takes to keep his lame show on the air.
Redgrange kept it real with his comment.
I really dont know where you guys get off messin with Howard Cosell, he’s been around forever, he would know…… oh Greg Cosell? Who the hell is he?
Saying that Cosell praised Jason Campbell so his critique of Tebow is off-base is ludicrous. Check Campbell’s arm strength: case-closed. JC will own JC’s lapdog twice this year (assuming the lapdog makes it onto the field) when the Raiders take Josh’s Pentecostal Revue to task. Such a bizarre world when I go into a season rooting for Shanahan AND the Raiders! Hail!
Andddd, Greg Cosell is no Howard Cosell either
Tebow is a playmaker at the QB position. He may not have Elway’s arm, but who does, NO ONE. What he does have is a good enough arm to make all the throws, and in our offense it is all about timing.
Kyle Orton has a rag arm and was decent, Tebow with a couple years in the offense will be a stud as long as he and McD are given a couple years to develop. He has as good an arm as Orton, probably better, and adds another dimension with his legs that Orton not only does have have, it a true negative to his game because he is so slow and has bad ankles. I like Orton as a player and person, but Tebow brings everything Orton does and a lot more.
That is the key. In this internet age people are going to have to learn to be patient with QBs.
if you look at Cosells past, you will find out he pimped David Carr, akili Smith, Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf.
He is awesome
Tebow does have a lot to learn, i will give you that Cosell. But he has a great offensive mind at coach, and Tebow is a fast learner. He will pick up all the tools he needs.
“McDoofus had VERY VERY LITTLE to do with Brady, very little, and what happened to Cassel after he wasnt surrounded by the same cast that Brady had?”
@cbrianwatkins,
You’re quite wrong, McDaniels worked with Brady in different capacities including QB coach beginning in 2004 and later OC. It was his work as OC, play caller and with Brady that led to the Pats offense breaking almost every offensive record there was in 2007.
I will not that it was after McDaniels became QB coach that Brady developed his deep game into something much more effective than it previously had been.
When Cassel went to KC he was not only surrounded by crappy players and like anyone was not as successful as when he was surrounded by good players. He also no longer had McDaniels as a coach and OC either.
The only thing you were right about was that Orton was good in Chicago before going to the Donks.
I’m a Miami Hurricane fan, therefore bias’ed to the Florida Gators, but I have to admit Tebow is a good PLAYER.
Now, to see him as a successful NFL quarterback, I think he really needs to change his game.
With his athleticism and size, I’d love to see him at strong safety.
But he’s committed to being an NFL QB.
Though it doesn’t matter, I believe he will find a spot and contribute to several wins, but I don’t see him as a prototypical passer a la Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady… Though he may find himself with just as many wins.
maybe Denver is planning on runnng the spread. no? well I’m out of options
I’m confused, so he doesn’t think Tebow is a first ballot hall-of-famer yet?
“Who would be in a better position? McDaniels for one…”
Really? What in McDaniels’ resume points to skill in personnel evaluation?
For that matter, what in McDaniels’ resume points to skill as a *head* coach?
Orton sucked with the Bears. His QB rating was horrible.
He won because of the defense and as soon as Grossman was healthy they handed the reins back to him.
Maybe Jesus will help Tebow be a great player…if Jesus watches football. He will be as good a QB as Brady Quinn was in Cleveland. Fans will call for him and he will be garbage.
Greg Cosell is one of the great talent evaluators in NFL history. Unlike some of us, he actually puts the time in watching film and giving opinions without an agenda and does it without regard as to who’s feeling maybe hurt in the process.
I appreciate his dedication, professionalism and knowledge.
“Number two, in college he did not throw with timing or anticipation because the offense that he was in did not require it. In the NFL, there are certain throws in certain situations that necessitate that the ball is delivered before his receiver makes his break.”
The above quote is J Russell to a tee. The coaches never could get him to learn it even after 3 years. The funny thing when watching Raiders games with Russell playing is that you will see receivers running wide open for days and that included DHB. Russell was never able to get the ball near them or on time and he had NFL arm strength.
But man…
Can he hit Jesus on a fly route…
Lets take a fond look back at the first round QB’s that should have been successful in the NFL according to expert analysts. Please enjoy (I surely did)
Josh Freeman (Jury is still out on this kid)
Jamarcus Russell(yeah, right), Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler(Jeff George JR), Alex D. Smith, Jason Campbell, JP Losman, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey, Chad Pennington, Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Cade McNown, Ryan Leaf(oh yeah, some experts said he was better than the other guy drafted before him that same year), Jim Drunkenmiller(WHO?), Heath Shuler(Don’t head butt the wall, bud), Trent Dilfer(he sucked even if he did win a SB), Rick Mirer(Wrong team Rick), Todd Marinovich(Raiders still cry over this one), Dan McGwire, Jeff George and on and on and on.
NFL analysts? Perhaps. Prophets, they are not!
@ edgy1957
a voice of reason, thank you
I wonder if Howard’s Nepotistic Nephew watched the film of Tebow long enough to notice the passes were completed about 70% of the time and a lot of them went for touchdowns? Or did he turn away in disgust when he saw the way Tim threw the ball? Tebow put up the same numbers as Sam Bradford in a much tougher conference. The only difference between them is that Tebow had 3,000 rushing yards and 60 rushing TDs, while Down Syndrome Sam had -5 rushing yards for his college career. DSS still managed to get hurt a lot more than Tebow did.
I don’t have strong feelings one way or another about Tebow other than I despise his preaching to everyone about the bible. That said, all the predictions about his failure are rather moot because he hasn’t played yet and is not likely to play at all this year. He’ll learn and he seems like a hard worker unlike JaWalrus.
On the other hand, he was surrounded by unbelievable talent at Florida, had all day to throw to receivers who could have caught the ball blindfolded, and defense that stifled the opposition. People point to his Heisman trophy, but the best player rarely won the award. There’s a reason every single Heisman trophy QB winner the last two decades has failed in the NFL (except Carson Palmer). Miami, Florida St, Florida, Nebraska, and Oklahoma have a poor record of churning out QBs the last two decades or so.
Howard’s Nephew thinks that Tebow can’t move around in the pocket. Gee, I thought that is what the Combine agility tests were for. Maybe he was too busy watching film to notice that Tebow put up spectacular agility numbers for a guy his size. Comparable to most receivers or cornerbacks.
Tebow was changing his delivery days before the draft. If that doesn’t tell you how BAD his mechanics were, I am not sure what will….
He has no arm, no mechanics, and zero NFL future
Broncos got the two best players out of the 2010 draft within three years. Tebow and DeMaryius Thomas.
“When Cassel went to KC he was not only surrounded by crappy players and like anyone was not as successful as when he was surrounded by good players.”
Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe and Chris Chambers aren’t too shabby. And this year, he will have Thomas Jones also.
Almost everyone on this board needs a lesson in arguing. Insulting Cossell doesn’t help Tebows cause, it makes you sound stupid. You should site specific reasons why you think he is wrong not just blatently say he is stupid. The guy probably knows more than anyone on this board, based on the fact he has the access and the time to go over hours of tape. So while our analysis and opinions are limited to the live broadcast of Gator Games and YouTube. He can break down hours of tape while getting paid for it. I am not saying he is right (although I think he is) but I am saying that insulting him doesn’t prove that the Broncos made a good decision drafting him in the first round, which is all he said. He never said Tebow could never become a good QB.
Tebow can turn water into dirty water.
@granadafan
In all fairness, Charlie Ward went pro in the NBA with the Knicks…
Even though he was a bit small, given how good of an overall athlete he was, I’d have loved to see him play in the NFL.
Maybe the only reason Tebow got drafted was because he had an influential relative somewhere in the Bronco’s organization.
Tim Tebow, he’s so hot right now.
None of the QBs in this draft class will be able to hold Jimmy Clausen’s jock in 5 years
what I dont get are the people saying tebow has no arm. He’s never done thrown with timing. I am a gator fan, and not one who thinks tebow will be god’s gift to football. But I did watch all of the games. And if you think he can’t throw or is not accurate you ARE mistaken. Like I said I’m not going to prepare his bust for the hall just yet. But God damn let’s wait and see. How many time do analysts need to be wrong before we form our own opinions about things but then again this is America we believe everything we see and hear on tv. Game film proves all his numbers tell a different story he was more accurate than bradford on passes longer than 20 yards. Marc trestman former oc for the raiders (when they were on the verge of being a dynasty) raves about him and his football inteligence. Let’s all just shut up and wait and see then we can play the I told you so game. Agreed.
@jaypeso
No, not agreed. What is the point of being a football fan if you can play the guessing game of how good a player is going to be in the offseason? What are we supposed to do, watch baseball? Did you see that travesty of a call in the perfect game today? Baseball is clearly not a suitable replacement (as much as I love it). The world cup? No. The NBA playoffs? Well considering there is about 6 months worth of NBA playoff games, it gets a little tedious. We get, LeBron sucks. I’m bored with the NBA. Talking about football is more fun than watching most other sports. And the funnest thing to talk about when there aren’t any actual games is how good a player, coach, or team, will be. Tebow is one of the most popular players, so logically he is going to be talked about a lot. Judged by his mechanics it isn’t unfair to say that you don’t think he is going to be a good NFL player. Saying he is going to be a good NFL player is giving him the benefit of the doubt based on intangible things. There is nothing wrong with it, its a perfectly valid opinion. But since its an opinion other people have every right to argue it. So no, we will not stop talking about Tebow. Now go back to living off tourists and not having no WIFI in Florida.
Wow, sorry Tim Tebow, if Cosell said it must be true…wait Howard died?…Who the f-ck is Gregg Cosell? This guy might be able to evaluate talent – in gay porn…What a loser…Go report on something that matters – loser…better to be a has been than a never was, Greg. Livin off your racist dead uncle’s fame – what a puke! God love ya!
And Cosell has what credibility?
I have evaluated Greg Cosell and he does not have the talent to make it in journalism or tv…he lacks the skill, vocabulary, and lateral thinking skills to make it at the next level…He is incapable of an original thought and is quick to plagiarize, parrot, or mimmick the comments of others in his field…He is not capable of making it as a professional, so he will be relegated to being a hack for nbcsports…
Cosell has won me much money over the years. So I will go with him when he says Jesus is a stiff. You that dog Cosell know nothing.
I’m not a fan of Tebow, but from what I’ve heard online and read on the Denver Post he’s made a lot of changes to his mechanics. It’s going to make him a better QB, but it’s not going to turn him into a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning anytime soon.
I’m hoping Tebow can be a Jake Plummer hybrid. Plummer had the same arm strength as Orton(Tebow has a stronger arm then Orton, or so I’ve heard), but was such a mobile QB.
Did someone just say they HOPE a QB is like Jake Plummer?
Having a stronger arm than Orton is like having better judgement than Big Ben: its easy.
Im a raider fan and was about to post some anti-tebow rant
but i thought twice about it and said , we’ll just let this thing play out on the field by itself…
I’m on record as saying Tebow will be a Pro-bowl QB in 5 years, and will have the best career out of this QB class.
@Verbal: Thank you for going “on the record”. The problem is nobody knows who you are. I’m sure the most well knows sports personalities will be researching your comments and pointing back to them saying, “Verbal King was right all along ladies and gentleman”. Nobody cares unless you are a public figure, a known sports commentator, etc
You heard it here first everyone, bookmark Verbal’s comment and commend or chastise him in five years. I’m sure we are all anxious to see how this plays out. Not to see if Tebow is a bust or a success, but to see if verbal commenting behind his keyboard was right or not.
His intangibles are what got him drafted in the 1st round. Denver has a bunch of idiots to take Tebow over Clausen. (Denvers loss Carolina’s Gain)
He has fire in his belly and you gotta love that from a football player but 95% of guys coming out of college have that same fire. So aren’t as vocal as Tebow was.
Good luck but my money is on the writer. Cosell has enough clout in my book to make a statement like this. He has probably seen more tapes on QB than many of us combined.
These threads sure bring out the vermin.
Tebow could win a championship and they would all point out how he’ll fall off the cliff next year and McDaniels will be fired.
Don’t you losers get tired of it?
Posting the same shit on every Tebow story for 6 months?
@this class sucks
To correct you sir we do have WIFI. and by the way saying he is going to be a good nfl qb is not based on intangibles its based on his actual game performace. The difference between me and you is I love baseball with all of its faults. Yes it was a travesty a shame and a mockery with the blown perfect game. but I do not base my opinion of tebow on leadership and work ethic I think if you are a winner and win at every level you play that says something and if you perform at the highest level that says something. Oh and maybe way out in the sticks they don’t have WIFI but in the civilized world we do. We also have electricity its really great.
“So basically Cosell talks up Jason Campbell and he had the same flaws that Tebow has. But Cosell gives JC a break because he had more than one OC. Cosell is a joke.”
Basically, JC has already passed for 3,000 yards in a season twice and Tebow hasnt.. His passing yardage increased every season Let the season play out, then if Tebow puts numbers up, then say Cosell is a joke. You saw how Tebow looked in the Senior Bowl, right? Let the progression of training camp and pre-season continue, then decide.
Tebow has all the intangibles: dedicated and hard-working … determined and inspirational … team player … tough warrior.
That won’t compensate for his inability to stand in the pocket, make multiple reads, and deliver downfield with lightning speed and precision.
I wish him well and would enjoy seeing him beat the odds. But they are stacked high against him and achieving NFL success remotely comparable to his college career is extremely unlikely.
@jaypeso
I don’t think anyone is arguing his success at other levels, but you have to admit that for him to have success at the pro level would be unique. If he makes all the changes needed it will be remarkable. Thinking Tebow will have any major success in the pros is giving him the benefit of the doubt. If the argument is: will he do good? It is all speculation. If the argument is: did the Broncos make the right move? The answer is no. He may turn about to be great, but if he does, it will have been sheer luck. No responsible team would trade up into the first round to get a guy that you know is a big project.
Congratulations on the wifi and electricity.
Montana had some real limitations, but under the right coach and right system, Tebow can be enormously successful. He is a longshot because not too many coaches are Bill Walsh. Although blessed with arm strength, Donovan McNabb could throw on timing if his life depended on it, but it didn’t preclude him from having a successful NFL career. Tebow is an enigma. He will be fascinating to watch. It’s like a car wreck, you just can’t turn away. We’ll learn soon enough whether all the hype is justified or he will just be a career backup.
Tim is a winner and the kid is working his ass off to become a NFL starting QB. Everyone should be rooting for him not putting him down.
As a true football fan everyone should be rooting not only for Tim, but for all the rookies trying to play in the NFL.
What is the problem with Tebow? No one knows how a pick is going to make it in the NFL. Sam Bradford could be a bust, did any of you brilliant minds think of that. I tell you what I will take Tebow over the first round pick anyday. Pro football is a mental game, how many Super Bowls has the great Peyton Manning, Dan Marino etc. won ONE between the two. So football greats most of you who has never even played sandlot football shutup and give the kid a chance. It is all media hype anyway, and who the hell is Greg Cosell?
