Sharper ups the ante with Shiancoe

Earlier today, Vikings coach Brad Childress said that he’ll eventually “reel in” the Twitter feud between Minnesota tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and Saints safety Darren Sharper.

It might be time for Chilly to start cranking the Zebco 404.

In response to Shiancoe’s posting of an image of Osama bin Laden saying, “I’m Darren Sharper,” Sharper had this to say:  “ok homeboy you done went too far, making me out to
be something that has brought this country alot of heartache.
Imma bust you right under your chinstrap from the
first play on. I don’t care about the fine. F the money Imma do it for
the red, white & blue.
And you’ll see me cuz I’ll be dressed in black
& gold. Protect your neck that’s all the warning you get.”

If Sharper hasn’t already heard from the league office, he undoubtedly will.  Shiancoe, too.

Shiancoe should be suspended for the Osama thing, what a terrible display of insensitivity. Its one thing to run your mouth as a fan, but for a NFL player to make a public display like that for all NFL fans to see that is so offensive to the nation is beyond words. I hope Shiancoe gets to meet Osama before his head gets chopped off by a terrorist.

  26. purpleguy says: Jun 2, 2010 7:21 PM

Girl Scouts aren’t even afraid of Sharper, the NFL safety known as much for avoiding a tough hit and piling on after the fact as much as anything. I’m sure the Vikings won’t sleep a wink knowing Darren’s PO’d.
It wasn’t even Shank that put the Sharper picture up on the firing range — it was a soldier. Is Sharper now pissed at the Minnesota National Guard too?

And all you flagwavers get over it, it is a joke about Sharper, who does not represent America. On a side note, Sharper better hope he banks his paychecks, cuz he sure doesn’t have a bright future after football, unless he goes into politics. Or maybe he can be a writer on this site?

Sharper is one of the softest hitting safeties in the NFL. His threat via tweet is pretty childish and weak.

I can see it now, AD takes the handoff, Shiancoe goes out to block, Sharper tries to come up for the tackle, and he gets clipped at the knees by Shiancoe. I will laugh my ass off if that happens. It will serve Sharper right for talking so much sh@t behind a keyboard.

You might possibly win a game in the playoffs. But your heart will be RIPPED out again just in the nick of time by your Lord Favre. Lots of smack back then too. You’d think fans of a franchise that has never won a Super Bowl might have gotten filled up with humble pie but comments like this rightfully makes one think you’re a few bricks shy of a full load.
Win something, then feel free to dis all you want, until then just bend over and try to enjoy it.

  69. Steve W. says: Jun 3, 2010 6:31 AM

    @gregjenningsfanclub,
Ahhh, are you still hurting from last season? Grow the heck up. You start off by saying Shiancoe went too far with that pic, and you end up saying you hope Osama cuts his head off. Huh? That’s like complaining about a guy doing a hit and run that doesn’t result in a serious injury while you run someone over and kill them and keep on driving. Was the pic going too far? Yeah, it probably was. Sharper started this thing, however, by joking around about trying to seriously injure one of Shiancoe’s teammates. A teammate that was, by all reports, well liked by the rest of the team. Note to Sharper: you’re coming back from freaking microfracture surgery! You’re probably going to be the most fragile player on the field. Before you try and create a bounty bowl, you better make sure you’re not likely to end up stuffed and mounted on an opponents wall. All of this is rather stupid. If you want to have a blood match on the field, keep your mouth shut about it in public. They’re making such a big deal about it that the league and refs can’t do anything but clamp down on any questionable hit. That’s especially true given the fact that the league already felt the need to issue fines after the last game, despite the non-calls on the field. This whole twitter battle thing is about as smart as two school kids letting the teacher know they’re planning on fighting in front of the school as soon as classes are over. Some one will break it up.

But in all seriousness, Sharper started this feud by coming out of the blue and threatening to injure our starting QB. Shiancoe was visiting Camp Ripley to support our troops and they, knowing of the feud, set up the firing squad dummy.
Now Sharper is trying to pull the “you went too far” card on something he started. The funny part is that he is using this “I’ll do it for the red white and blue” angle when it was our troops that set up his firing dummy for Shiancoe.

without looking up literacy rates between minnesota and louisiana, i’d be willing to bet louisiana’s is worse.
i’m wondering if you’re from NO…and if you are i also wonder if you realize the incredible irony of your post.

    Hey Vikings Fans:
    Super Bowl Victories:
    New Orleans Saints: 1
Minnesota Vikings: 0, zero, zilch, goose egg, nada nothing!!!!!
No Super Bowl Victories for you!!!!
    None!!!!!
    You don’t have any!!!!
Vikings will always suck ballz. And you fans know it.
    ——————————————————-
look at all you saints fans that suddenly are wearing bigboy pants cus you won a super bowl.
now saints fans think they’re so damn good that they’re on par with the historical greatness of the bears and packers and think they can shit-talk like fans of those two teams do.
talk shit when the saints prove to not be a flash in the pan.
i used to be a fan of the saints, until their fans started acting like a bunch of illiterate mongoloids (much like packer fans) and idiotically spout off about number of super bowls won now that they’ve finally won one of them.
here’s a lil FYI for people that love to shout that from the rooftops. we don’t really care. are we suddenly supposed to have realized they haven’t won a super bowl and so we shouldn’t back our favorite team?
if (that’s right blind hope vikes fans, i said if) the vikings ever win a super bowl, i hope to whatever god is up there that MOST (every team has idiots following them, mine is no different) fans don’t act like a bunch of idiots and stupidly spout off crap that makes a caveman sound like einstein. saints fans i’m looking at you.

I do have substantial facts to back up my statement. I taught Economics at U of M (Twin Cities) for 4 years. In the summer I would accept assignments in satellite locations such as Duluth and Morris and I have encountered the most uneducated people. I decided to research literacy rates in those 2 communities and was appalled by my findings. People do identify their city with the success of a sports franchise…..think of all the Steelers fans. I am currently residing in a city that’s baseball team in doing well and the morale has greatly picked up. People say “hello” as you pass them on the subway. As a Saints fan I realize that our franchise has had many losing seasons. Our history is not as storied as the 49ers, Cowboys, Steelers or Patriots. You may not like it but the Saints have become America’s team.

so because you taught economics at a university, that makes you the authority on literacy rates? and because you went to TWO satellite locations all of a sudden you’re this beacon of knowledge about the entire state?
and you compared those “findings” to other places in the state and then came to that conclusion? and did you also take into account that probably every state has a drop in literacy rate when you get out of the bigger cities?
you didn’t? so you’re just trying to inject some “science” into your ignorant comment? that’s what i figured. and you still haven’t provided these “substantial facts” you speak of.
“i taught economics at the U so i know things and it makes me smart enough to comment on things i only think i know about.” what a joke.
any “teacher” worth his salt knows that you can’t base your claims off of experience in only TWO of the sample areas that you claim to know so much about.
you’re still an ignorant fool if you base your statement on those “facts”…and the idea that you teach others is a little disconcerting.
the saints aren’t america’s team. the cowboys weren’t either when they and the media claimed them to be. the saints are lousiana’s team and to say otherwise is awfully arrogant.
if by america’s team you mean they happened to win the super bowl then i guess america usually has a different team every year huh? gimme a break, “teach”.

I love it when people call out Sharper’s style of writing (tweeting, speaking, whatever) for it’s “uneducated feel”, then proceed to drop a deuce all over the English language in their response.
As for the story, this is dumb. I wouldn’t even care if I were an NFL coach. My response would be, “If you want to pay the fine for that, do it. Knock yourself out (literally).” Y-A-W-N. (Yet Another Weak Non-story).
