Reggie Wayne to miss Colts minicamp

Quiet off the field for his entire career, Reggie Wayne suddenly lives in the headlines.

First, we learned the police are investigating a potential ex-girlfriend for stealing Wayne’s money. Then we found out Wayne may want a new contract, which looks like the reason he’s stayed away from OTAs.

Now NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports Wayne plans to skip the Colts’ only mandatory minicamp of the offseason next week. We grew tired of waiting for NFL.com to post the full story (let’s go, people), so we asked La Canfora the cause for his absence.

He says the contract “is definitely an issue.”

The Colts owe Wayne $11.5 million over the next two years of his current deal. He appears unlikely to get more money anytime soon.

A certain fella named Peyton Manning probably takes precedence.

UPDATE: Here’s the full story. Wayne spoke with coach Jim Caldwell over his decision to skip practice because of his unhappiness regarding his contract.
