Southern Miss baseball one loss from elimination

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball team was crushed 10-1 by the Clemson Tigers in Friday night’s opening round of the NCAA tournament.

Thus, Brett Favre’s alma mater is one loss away from elimination.
(Note that we’re taking this information straight from Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.  We actually have no idea how college baseball works, nor do we care.)
Last month, Favre pledged to play football in 2010 if Southern Miss qualified for the College World Series.
The Golden Eagles were scheduled to square off with Jacksonville State on Saturday, but the game is currently in a rain delay.
(A rain delay?  What kind of “sport” is this?)

  1. “We actually have no idea how college baseball works, nor do we care.”
Yet, you care enough to make this non football story a thread.

  2. I thought I was sick of Favre after his first superbowl, I greatly underestimated how much I could hate him. I want him to get injured or win a SB so he would just go away. Go Aaron Rodgers.

  3. I thought this was Pro FOOTBALL Tall. Not college baseball talk. What weird twilight zone did I step into?

  4. Good luck, Try the Veal. You may be world champs if you can beat Chicago, but you will be runners-up for the Penna State Hockey Championship to Pittsburgh for the 3rd straight year no matter what. (17-6 vs the Flyers in the last 3 yrs and playoffs combined).

  5. Fron the Pete Carroll USC post:
“Some of you will complain that this blurb has nothing to do with the NFL. (Then again, some of you would complain about anything, including but not limited to the lack of anything about which to complain.)
So those of you who like to complain will have to find something else to complain about.
We have a feeling you’ll find it.”

  6. Wow. You really must be in love with Favre if you actually think this is a story worth posting.

  7. This site is unreadable in the offseason. It really is just abysmal. It was one thing to post the original story where the geriatric gunslinger said this, but to follow up on it as if it has ANY real influence on whether or not that elderly bastard actually comes back is the height of ridiculousness.
Also, why does everyone that writes for this site pride themselves on an ignorance of baseball? It makes you look like a dummy.

  8. … but he didn’t say that he WON’T come back if they DON’T qualify. Oh God, I may be becoming a lawyer.

  9. Brett likes drama.
    Brett craves attention.
Brett has nothing to do with his life other than football.
Brett likes creating “what ifs” and stirring the pot.
Brett will play regardless of what his alma mater does, look foolish for a minute, and then we, the cringing masses, will forget it.
Why? Because he’s an annual train wreck that makes a league full of excitement even more watchable. And we can’t look away……

  10. Tim Tebow is thankful for the oppourtunity to witness a Favre watch while being a member of the NFL.

  11. Don’t forget to update us on how many squares Brett uses when he wipes his butt later this afternoon.

  12. This story is so unworthy of commenting, that I am going to comment how unworthy of comment this is.

  13. It’s kinda gay to only like football and not other sports. That just means you’re a football geek and not a sports fan. Big difference GEEK!
