Frankly, we’re starting to think that all this talk of NFL teams being interested in Inglis could be coming from Inglis or someone representing him, in the hopes of leveraging his rugby club into doing whatever Inglis and/or the persons representing him what the rugby club to currently do.

Aren’t 90% of the pro sports stories reported on basically the same thing? Agents floating rumors to the media to get more money or a better situation for their clients? Why is this one any different?

Hi,
I’m from Australia and study media at a university in Inglis’s city, Melbourne.
Firstly, the Herald Sun is a joke of a newspaper. If you don’t believe me, compare their homepage to that of an actual newspaper (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/).
People here call it “The Footy Sun” because most of their revenue stream comes from stories about football/rugby, and most of their stories are baseless gossip. I think it’s similar to the New York Post in that regard.
My point is, you honestly can’t believe a word of what is reported in this newspaper as it’s not a trusted source of information.
Inglis’s club, the Melbourne Storm, were recently discovered to have dodged the salary cap big time in the National Rugby League. His contract is being renegotiated because the previous contract involved giving him giant wads of cash in brown paper bags.
That’s why Florio’s theory of this being a bunch of bullshit concocted by Inglis’s agent to gain leverage makes sense – everybody at that club is in contract negotiation mode.
Also, Inglis got arrested a few months back for punching his girlfriend in the face. If you’re going to talk about an Australian football star coming to the US, talk about someone that deserves it like Israel Folau.
