Packers teammates say Underwood “has been a problem”

We learned just after midnight, via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, that second-year cornerback Brandon Underwood was the unnamed Packers player investigated for sexual assault.

Buried within the report by Lee Bergquist and Greg A. Bedard was a potentially damning statement regarding Underwood.

“Several players who wished to remain anonymous said [Underwood] had been a problem since he was drafted in the sixth round in 2009 out of Cincinnati,” the article states.

So much for sticking together.

Underwood transferred from Ohio State to Cincinnati in college after having his scholarship revoked for missed meetings and academic issues. Early in Underwood’s rookie season, cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt said Underwood was immature.

None of the above means Underwood did anything illegal. But Underwood’s history could ultimately make it easier for the Packers to move on by releasing him.
