This case is weak. It is a Texas case.
There was no harm to the public regardless of which of the 4 occupants in the vehicle had the cough syrup.
Codeine can be obtained over the counter in 19 states.
It is not banned by the NFL.
As much as some (fans of a team never to win a George Halas trophy) would want every NFL team in trouble so theirs would not look so immoral, there is nothing here.

Packer fans claim that the Packers don’t want low-lifes on their team but it’s been 2+ years and Jolly still remains. What’s the over/under on how long it takes them to release Underwood? Contrary to packer fan’s “beliefs”, their team is no better than the Fins, Jets, Bengals, Vikings, Steelers or 26 other NFL teams in how they handle their “trash”. If a player can help the team they create a double standard of rules, if he is a backup etc. they make a big deal out of cutting the “misfits” but yet guys like Jolly (who has started every game for the last 2 years) remain. Save your rationalizing Packer fans, you’re no better than any other team’s fans and probably even worse when you take into consideration that other team’s fans have no problem ridiculing or lambasting their team for their actions whereas in Green Bay it would be heresey or an act of treason to ever say a negative word about the packers or a packer player. I guess when you are a bad city in a bad state with a bad football team, you pledge your allegiance (along with your wife, kids, girlfriend) to the Packers for they are God!

There are Vikings fans that are knowledgable and can always share some insight into the game of football with you, even if you don’t agree. They take shots at the Packers, which is fine, because of course I’ll take a shot back at the Vikings and Little Somalia.
