Haynesworth's return to Redskins nearing

Albert Haynesworth and the Redskins appear to be stuck with each other, largely because of the defensive tackle’s monster contract.

Part of that contract requires him to be at this weekend’s mandatory minicamp, or risk giving up 25% of this year’s allocation for his signing bonus.  There are also future guarantees in his deal that could void if Haynesworth doesn’t show by Friday.

Considering the contentious relationship at play here, Haynesworth would be insane to give the Redskins any legal window to take his money.  That’s partly why NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reported Monday night that “all indications” are that Haynesworth will show up this weekend.

How the new Redskins coaching staff integrates Haynesworth to the team will be one of the big stories to watch this weekend and into training camp.

    Haslett to Haynesworth:

I wonder if McNabb will call this “black on black crime”?

  3. Mangy66 says: Jun 8, 2010 10:17 AM

I remember the day we signed him. I did a Facebook status update saying it was a dark day in Redskins history. I didn’t want him, but once we signed him, I decided I would be supportive of my team.
Now that fat f*ck is eating our money, and all the fried chicken his fat arse can fit in him. But, he won’t go the extra step to ensure that he does his part to make this a better team.
One of the worst decisions Snyder has ever made as owner of the Redskins.
Too bad Casserly isn’t around to pull a “Sean Gilbert-to-the-Panthers” with him.

  4. The Hogster says: Jun 8, 2010 10:17 AM

Non Story. It’s been said all along that he would show up when its mandatory. It wasn’t a story when he wasn’t there for voluntary workouts, and its not a story that he’s coming when its mandatory. He said that from the beginning.

If ANYONE can do the nose tackle job nearly as well as him, I say make him work like hell and bench him on game day…………….on the other hand, maybe this is all a bunch of hooey and he comes in, works like hell, and has a great year. Kinda like certain other prima donnas in the NFL who don’t attend, or even skip training camp altogether by hook or by crook or phoney retirements…….

That Silvia Mena with those huge ones is so effin hot you can understand Albert not pulling out.

After play #1, Haynesworth reports “sore” ankle, sits out rest of training camp.
You can’t really make a guy play if he doesn’t want to.

    great signing Danny. You retard

  9. Mattchew182 says: Jun 8, 2010 11:14 AM

I still say the Skins unload him to Oakland for Richard Seymour. Both players would be better in the others systems Seymour being a 3-4 guy and Haynesworth being a 4-3 guy. Make the switch and give Oakland a 3rd or 4th rounder so they can get something on their investment of a 1st rd pick for a guy who didn’t wanna play for them. Skins get a contract done with Seymour and the Raiders get an excuse to cut Tommy Kelly who is overpaid and can’t play.

There is nothing new here. I can’t believe this is being reported. NFL.com have an entire vidoeo reporting exactly the same thing which is essentially: repeating what was reported months ago.
Haynesworth said he wouldn’t come to voluntary camps. He didn’t, yet for some reason there was apparently a need to report this every single practice.
He said he would turn up for mandatory work and you are essentially reporting, “that is a week before a mandatory mini-camp.”
I think you are missing the point of a rumour and news blog.
That fat little hamster Jason La Canfora can just stfu as well. What happened to that trade then Jason? You know the one that was imminent in the run up to the draft and all the way through the draft. JLaC has been so consistently wrong about everything related to Haynesworth that he has no credibility whatsoever. This is a guy who was writing for the Washington Post’s Redskins Insider column and confidently predicted that the Redskins had no chance of signing Haynesworth becauce they didn’t have the cap room.
This site isn’t much better. Where was the mea culpa after all the snide remarks directed at Shanahan when he said Haynesworth wouldn’t be traded during the draft weekend?

  11. Gray Eagle says: Jun 8, 2010 11:51 AM

I believe Shanahan and Haslett have the cojones to make Dear Albert work his way into shape and to play the position they’ve selected for him.
If Dear Albert refuses to cooperate, they can declare him “unable to play” and take action from there.
It’s going to be a L O N G hot summer training camp for Dear Albert. Something like “Frontier Justice.”

yap yap yap..bunch of hating arm chair head coaches on PFT this morning.
truth is that haynesworth disrupts any game when he is in. Orakpo and Carter both get over 11 sacks because of the double or even triple teams he commands. Orakpo didnt even play 2/3 of the time with his hand on the ground and dominated.
if he comes in ready to go, in shape and lost weight all of you will look like jackasses.

is “monster contract” is no more. he is to get $19 mil over the next 3 years.
Sure the Redskins might want some of the bonus money back from whomever they deal him to, but the $100mil deal is no more.
I would think a website like this would know that.

This guy was a complete bust after paying him 100 million dollars. He should be there out there on the field before any other players arrive. I’m so sick of hearing him bitch. Albert, you are not getting paid to voice your opinion on which defense you prefer to play. Shut up and play.

  27. boysroll says: Jun 8, 2010 3:37 PM

  28. Bious says: Jun 8, 2010 5:01 PM

Albert wants to play in a 4-3 and will make everyones life around him HELL until he gets it
The Redskins could win every game in the 1st half of the season and Albert will make his aggravations well-known about playing in the 3-4 since his stats wont be high like being in a 4-3

  29. larr999777 says: Jun 8, 2010 6:04 PM

Let Albert alone and build a positive relationship with him and stop the drama !!! We are stuck with him and we are going to have to deal with it !!! Now is the time to motivate him to greatness !!!

Once we cut this POS and get rid of any of that awful draft class from a couple of years ago…WRs, CBs, and one particular OG) we will be a completely new regime.

  33. jstewart455 says: Jun 11, 2010 12:24 AM

I don’t know why everyone is making a big deal. It’s not mandatory and there are dozens of players every year that don’t show up for OTA’s. It’s just because it’s the Redskins. They love to hate on us!
