Anthony Gonzalez missed minicamp after suffering "setback"

When Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez suffered a knee injury during Week 1 of the 2009 season, in his first game as the heir to Marvin Harrison, no one knew when he’d be back.

He missed the rest of the season, along with the playoffs.  And according to WISH-TV (via our friend Bradley Wells a/k/a BigBlueShoe a/k/a Guys Who Rips Me Mercilessly At Times But Curiously We’re Friends of StampedeBlue.com), Gonzalez suffered a “setback” last Tuesday, which caused him to miss the team’s recent mandatory minicamp.

A first-round draft pick in 2007, Gonzalez faces an uphill climb to return to the starting lineup, given the performances of players like Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon.

At some point, Gonzalez’s roster spot also could be in jeopardy.

    Speaking of roster-spots in jeopardy:
I kept him on my FF bench for WEEKS last year, waiting for the comeback-that-never-was.
This guy’s starting to become a setback unto himself.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the new immigration bill, does it?

It is funny how you describe the guy as someone you(meaning the Florettes, as in your use of the terms our and we’re) are friends with yet he rips on only Mike (as in Me).
If I spent as much time with you as your coworkers I too would be friends with anybody who rips on you.

Man, what a shame. I thought he was going to be the next Big Thing in Indy. Hope he gets better sooner or later.

Cut him he will never be anything but a liablity for the colts. Garcon and Collie are good enough. And Wayne need to stfu and get to camp or risk being cut in a year or so becuase face it he takes plays off and wants more money that he doesnt deserve.

UPDATE: Gonzo’s setback might not be his knee. Jason LaCanfora just Tweeted: “Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez dealing w/minor hammy injury, unrelated to his knee surgery. Should not be out of OTAs long. More at NFL.com

As much as I hate to say it, because they’er both great guys, the Colts need to cut their losses with both Sanders and Gonzalez. I have never seen a team successfully re-habilitate injury prone players like these two and get any benefit from it. I completely agree with PRMPFT. Dump these guys and move on.
Oh, and while they’re at it, inform Mr Wayne that he’s not going to get a new contract until this one’s over, and if he’s not careful, he could be joining them…….

With Austin Collie around who cares about Gonzalez.

OMG, most of you people are idiots. The dude blew out his major knee ligaments and missed 1 year. 1! A guy like Bob (I just stubbed my toe, now I am on the pup list) Sanders has played in less than half of the games he has been in the league for which is now around 5 or so. People who think they should cut Gonzalez are morons, if Colie or Garcon get hut, who the hell would they put in? Sign Aaron Moorehead off the street. STFU before you put some ignorant crap up here. Oh and by the way, F*ck your FF team, I want to win a god d*mned second superbowl!

Lumped Gonzalez and Bobzilla together is pure ignorance. Gonzo blew out his knee, its the only injury hes ever had!! Edgerrin James did the same thing and missed 1 year, would you call him injury prone?? Its a freakin mini-camp in June, if you’re not 120% healthy you dont participate, its as simple as that!!
Im not a huge Gonzo fan, and I wouldnt mind if we traded him, but dont get on the guy for being “injury prone”. Thats just wrong

The guys that actually know what they’re talking about at 18to88 are calling you out, Florio.

  19. Jay16 says: Jun 12, 2010 3:20 PM

Stampede doesn’t call anyone out. They are a church of Dungy disciples of about 15-20 members (that maybe high)that only know whats going on in Indianapolis and not the rest of the world. They are a terrible choice for information like a political machince that slants bias on all stories relating to any player from the Colts locker room to the front office, then they present them in an opinionated way using foul language, personal attacks and vicious assaults on the integrity of other fellow bloggers who occasionally disagree with their opinions. Mike Florio has nothing to worry about. For his consideration “Big Blue Shoe” AKA Brad Wells has his own members ocassionally turn on him when in the past he himself calls out the Colts organization for anything that might seem questionable. Stampede Blue doesn’t even hold its editor and cheif as a credible source of information, its a gaffe in even “wannabe” sports journalism.
