LMAO. Rex Ryan’s fat ass gave Revis a ton of leverage. He even ran his yap about how Revis had a bigger impact on the Jets defense than Ed Reed and Ray Lewis had on the Ravens in their prime. Thats two hall of fame caliber players that Revis being catapulted above. Damn right he’s going to want the money to reflect it.

If you work for a great company you’ll usually adapt to the philosophy and ways of that company. If you work for a hack company, you’ll become a hack. I’m sure Revis is not worried about his pay for play on the field, but having to live with the embarrassment of wearing that stupid logo and going out in public and people recognizing him as a “jest”. I’d want to be paid extra for that humiliation also.

Alrite people everyone wants to talk about Revis bein number one and bein the highest paid corner. But guess what? Charles Woodson beat him for the DPOY. and did so with way better stats and also him bein in a 3-4 system for the first time in his career. Since his arrival in green bay he has done nothin but dominate . If anything he should get paid to be the best at the position but have you heard one peep from him for more money? No. thats what your suupose to do you get a contract and earn every penny not sign one and then three years later bitch about it because your playin better.Revis should”nt have sign a 5 yr contract if he knew he”d play that good. If he”s lucky they may add money to it but i”d let him sit another year on it and learn from the veterans of how to do things the right way.

I’m a little confused. I was watching NFLN and they had Revis’ stats for 2009. At the bottom of the screen, it said he was tied for 5th place with 6 INTs. After reading all the jests post about him being so great and the best ever, I had to go to NFL.com to check out to see how their own network could make such a blunder. To my shock and amazement, he WAS tied for 5th place. Tied with SEVEN other players with six INTs. Vontae Davis, as a rookie and not starting an entire season had FOUR ints. Now I’m beginning to wonder if all this talk isn’t just a player being overhyped by a loud-mouthed coach. Please jests fans, please tell me NFL.com and NFLN is mistaken in their stats!!!!!!

@ overkil2 — let’s not forget that IF any other team did want him (and we all know Belichek really wanted him last year), he would have gone to any other team. No one, and I mean NO ONE, not even any jests fan, will ever convince me that he is happy in NJ as much as he hated them his entire career. I just don’t understand why anyone would question Revis getting paid the big bucks. If your coach is telling the world that you are the best defensive player ever to play the game, you should be paid like it. Tell Rexy to throw in a few mill from his salary. Heck, since his lap band surgery, he’ll be saving that much on groceries.

Revis’ comments that ‘don’t you know it’s an uncapped year’ vastly oversimplify the situation. Does he really believe that just because it’s an uncapped year this year that teams can or should pay players an unlimited amount of money? And does he really think that fans should buy into that logic?

The Jets will not survive if they shell out $15-20M to a cornerback, especially one who is still under contract for three years at very, very good money ($21M).
First of all, the guy is not the most important player on the team. A QB is always the most important player, even on a defensive team; Revis had a fantastic year, but with a weak QB, the [not] Yets were basically a .500 team. I would put Kris Jenkins above any CB, anyway; the NT is the keystone to a 3-4 defense.
Second, what ten players can the Jests cut to pay out that more than Fifteen Extra Large per annum and still be competitive? Because that is what it would mean.
Third, how are the Jets’ other stars going to react to one guy getting all of their money? Teams that overpay one or two guys will inevitably have problems with their other players under contract or negotiating new ones, especially if they are crazy enough to rewrite a contract with, I say again, three more years on it!
Fourth, the reality is that projections for salary cap under the next CBA are lower, not higher than the cap has recently been, so such ridiculous numbers are a non-starter for a guy who is, yes, excellent, but not so vastly much better than other top CBs that the franchise should be held hostage by him.

Ive stressed this in every post.. put up stats to prove and made several arguments to why NA is way better than Revis.. Add Character to the list.. Nam Would never speak in the Tone that Revis is speaking in and he is the example of a class act and selfless teamate.. if a team thinks your worth something then they will offer it to you.. the Jets obviously dont think he is Better than NA21 or they would have paid him already. I think they wait one more year to see what hes got.. Just like ive said in older post

revis couldnt lace aso’s kleets. Revis plays zone and gets balls thrown his way. Aso plays man to man and shuts down every WR in the NFL. Thats why he dosent get as many INTs becuase nobody throws his way. He basically shuts down his whole half of the field. Revis would get burned playing man to man. Plus ASO is getting a ring this year

Revis is a great corner, and deserves to be well paid. However, as an impartial observer I don’t believe that Asomugha’s contract should be the standard of how much he makes. It’s pretty much universally accepted that as good as he is, Asomugha is overpaid and the Raiders gave him a ridiculous deal. The Jets should not be forced to do something stupid and irresponsible just because the Raiders did.
The other thing is that it doesn’t make sense for teams to give out huge contracts right now. Because of the 30% rule, about the only way to get a deal done would be to pay Revis a disproportionately large amount of money to him in the form of a signing bonus.
Problem is it would be fiscally irresponsible for teams to do that right now because there’s a very good chance there will be no football next year, which means no revenue from ticket sales, concessions, parking, etc. On the other hand if a deal is worked out, it will surely include a salary cap – and one that will probably be tighter than what the league has had the last couple of years.
If the Jets (or any other team) signs players to big extensions right now, they could end up screwing themselves and find themselves having to dump players they need to get under the cap next year.

Asomugha is a good player….great player, but he’s no Revis.
Revis is will go down as one of the greatest players ever to play the game
Asomugha is a great player but his numbers are not indicative on anything. Why throw to the receiver he’s covering when you have an easy completion on the other side of the field or you can just run it every play?
I wouldn’t throw at Asomugha when I can just run the ball on the 29th ranked run defense or pick on Chris Johnson all day.

Actually, there are plenty of people that think Aso is a better cover corner…. As for being quiet, it’s because he gets thrown at about 1 time a game, so it’s not like the opportunities are there…. He’s given up 1 touchdown in 3 years, and that actually wasn’t his responsibility. Like Revis last year, he’s ran a gauntlet of elite receivers and shut them down… Look at 2008… Randy Moss, Andra Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Steve Smith and on and on….
Hard to believe any NY fan would call anybody else a Homer…. As to Aso, he played out his contract.. he got franchised, and went through the negotiation process. I’m not saying the Jets aren’t at fault cause they told him he’d get a new contract, but the fact is, he is under contract right now, still has 3 f’ing years on said contract, and should just man up and prove that he is worth the big money. As for those that say he’s one injury away blah blah blah, we are all one injury, one wreck, one something from not being able to get the big money. It’s called life, suck it up.
