Owen Daniels signs his tender

O. Daniels.jpgTexans restricted free agent Owen Daniels signed his one-year contract tender on Friday worth $3.168 million, even though it’s not the long-term deal he’s hoping for.

Houston informed Daniels they need to see a healthy season out of him before handing out a big signing bonus.  The fifth-year tight end is recovering from a torn ACL and his base salary is competitive with many of the top tight ends in the league.

Daniels may sit out most of the contact work in training camp as he recovers from his injury.

They don’t want to give him a long-term deal.

Daniel’s wants a long term deal, whats so unreasonable, after all, we see players
with five years left on their contract wanting
a raise. We see players in Minnesota who
cheat and get a state judge to protect them
from suspension. We have rapists with enough
spending money to buy his freedom. Its the
NFL. The league that gives you a superbowl
in your town if the team owner gets enough
city tax dollars to build a pretty brand new
stadium. Whats unusual with any of Owen
Daniels wants? This is a very “team” oriented
industry, everyone but the fan wants more.
