Broncos linebacker Robert Ayers found himself stuck on the bench for two straight days of a full-squad minicamp.
For the final day of the session, Ayers returned to the field. Though he was relegated to the second team, he was nevertheless on the field.
“It was for a good reason,” Ayers said after practice, per the Associated Press. “End of the day, it will make me a better
player and better person.”
Meanwhile, coach Josh McDaniels threw a bouquet in Ayers’ direction. “Again, he’s fine and again, I commend him for the work he has done and the way he has approached this entire offseason,” McDaniels said in remarks distributed by the team. “That’s something that I think has resolved itself and I think we are all excited to move forward with that — I know Robert is.”
Ayers, a first-round pick a year ago, appeared in 15 games with one start as a rookie. He notched a Gholstonesque 0.0 sacks in 2009.
