Robert Ayers returns to the field

Broncos linebacker Robert Ayers found himself stuck on the bench for two straight days of a full-squad minicamp.

For the final day of the session, Ayers returned to the field.  Though he was relegated to the second team, he was nevertheless on the field.

It was for a good reason,” Ayers said after practice, per the Associated Press.  “End of the day, it will make me a better
player and better person.”

Meanwhile, coach Josh McDaniels threw a bouquet in Ayers’ direction.  “Again, he’s fine and again, I commend him for the work he has done and the way he has approached this entire offseason,” McDaniels said in remarks distributed by the team.  “That’s something that I think has resolved itself and I think we are all excited to move forward with that — I know Robert is.”

Ayers, a first-round pick a year ago, appeared in 15 games with one start as a rookie.  He notched a Gholstonesque 0.0 sacks in 2009.

  1. According to info from the website, Ayers didn’t practice at all for two days then returned to work with the second stringers. But I don’t do this for a living, so I may be wrong.

  2. Yawn. Some crumb bum bust makes 1st string on some crumb bum team, with a crumb bum coach….. and it’s news?
If you’re going to post Bronco news, might as well make it about Tebow right? Has he secured the #2 spot yet? The world wants to know, Florio. Get on it.

  3. Hey where are all of the trolls from yesterday that had Ayers ‘demoted’ and on the trading block?
Again Coach McDaniels seems to be excellent in getting players in the right frame of mind.

  4. “Again Coach McDaniels seems to be excellent in getting players in the right frame of mind.”
Yeah, put the players in the right frame of mind to go 2-6 down the stretch.

  5. “Again Coach McDaniels seems to be excellent in getting players in the right frame of mind.”

And can I have whatever your smoking that’s putting you in your frame of mind?
