I like how people talk about the QB spot like everyone can just go out and get a Peyton Manning if they want. “Brett is hurting the team as a stopgap because that is what Ted Thompson told us”
Sometimes you have to string QB together. And you never know who might become available. Did the Saints draft Drew Brees? No, he just came available. Washington has McNabb now.
My point is that if Brett hangs it up next season there might be some other quality QB that can come in. Or maybe TJack makes a huge step. You just never know.
Childress and Co. have built an imposing roster with good young talent and solid salary cap. They’ll be fine.

I think the nose job comment probably meant BF’s surgery was essentially a very minor, procedure. In other words, a “surgery” to have a built in excuse for missing OTAs and training camp.
BF had a career year. He was put in a system that allowed him to maximize his skills in a climate controlled environment for many of his games. Throw in a good offense line and one of the best backs and good WRs and no surprise he did well. Look for BF to come back to earth now that teams have had all off-season to dissect how to beat Favre.

I didn’t say that the acquisition didn’t work out; however, they ended up with the same result they would have had had they not picked him up- no Super Bowl. My question is about whether they’d be in a better position had T-Jack came into this offseason with another year of starting under his belt. Have they sacrificed a promising future for an underachieving present?
Of course, if Peterson can’t hold on to the damn ball, it doesn’t matter who they have playing qb.

They are sitting him down until the deal is finalized.

Although I could’ve waited for five minutes for the next Favre thread, I’ll ask the question here: Being as the Vikings didn’t win the Super Bowl last year, would they be in a better position now had they not acquired Favre and let T-Jack start last year? Favre, no matter how successful, is still just a stopgap. When Favre calls it quits, they’ll have to get a young qb, trade for a veteran or see what T-Jack has learned.
I also think that Rosenfels could shine as a starter somewhere if given the opportunity and the weapons. It does seem like he’s being paid a lot to be two injuries away from playing. The Texans should have kept him, given Schaub’s injury history.

Proves what I’ve said all along. They *traded* for Rosenfels, giving up a 4th round pick, before Favre signed. At the time of the trade, it was Rosenfels and Jackson, competing for the starting job. Favre comes in, and now Rosenfels and Jackson are competing for #2, but Jackson won out. There’s no way the Vikes would have given up a 4th round pick and a 9 million dollar deal for a guy if they didn’t plan on him at least pushing for the starting job. Not being able to beat out Jackson made his a disappointing acquisition, and I’ll personally guarantee Joe Webb takes his spot on the roster this year. Not because Webb is better or ready to play, but because he’ll be cheap and young while sitting on the bench in that #3 spot. No reason to waste that money on Sage when they have starters coming up on free agency next year.

This was a pointless trade to begin with for the Vikings. Granted they needed another QB before Brett signed with the Vikings, but they gave Sage a 3yr $9 million dollar deal and he’s posted on the bench. I guess it’s not a bad gig for Sage if he doesn’t mind getting paid to kick it. But they could’ve gotten somebody much cheaper. I’d do it for free.
