Elvis Dumervil signs his tender, too

The list of restricted free agents who are signing their tender offers today rather than risk having those offers reduced tomorrow continues to grow, as Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil signed his tender today.

The one-year tender gives Dumervil a $3.168 million salary for 2010. For restricted free agents who don’t sign their tenders today, teams are entitled to reduce those tenders to 110 percent of their 2009 salaries tomorrow. In the case of Dumervil, his offer would have been reduced by about $2.5 million.

Dumervil would like to get a long-term contract extension, but he and the team haven’t made much progress.

So far Dumervil has been a bargain for the Broncos: In four NFL seasons he has 43 sacks and has made only $2 million.

Dummervil for Logan Mankins. Fills a need on both teams and gets rid of the bad blood for both as well.

Raiders will destroy the Broncos twice this season. Easy!
    AFC WEST
    Chargers 10-6
    Raiders 9-7
    Broncos 6-10
    Chiefs 5-11

Great news, Dumervil’s big payday will happen soon, negotiations will just take a little while because of the uncertainity of next year.
Trading him for Logan Mankins??? Are you crazy?? There is no bad blood on Dumervil’s part, he has been at almost all the voluntary and all the mandatory practices. He is a true sack artist with 43 sacks in 4yrs, he will continue to be a beast for this much improved defenses. Without question, another top 10 defense this year, maybe even top 5.

@ Mike_in_Texas the raiders still suck and will not beat the broncos twice this season it is funny that after every draft the raiders fans think they are superbowl bound but this team hasnt won more than 6 games in like 10 yrs what a bunch of fools

Ease up on Mike. This is the Raiders fans’ best time of year. You know, when they haven’t actually seen the team. Its all down hill from here.

Dumervil for Mankins is an insane idea for a deal. The Patriots would be ripping off the Broncos so terribly its crazy. Dumervil is worth at least a first round pick at this point in his career in my mind. Mankins isn’t worth one, I’d give up probably a third rounder for him. Maybe if New England gave a package like Mankins and Adalius Thomas or something that might be worth it. Dumervil carries a lot of value though, one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.

smithopher, you forget one thing. Mankins is a Patriot.
That trumps most anything else, including common sense. Cassel was a Patriot and he trumped Cutler.
And we’re paying a long-snapper big cash for no other reason than that.
Not saying anything like that will happen, but don’t overestimate McDips**t.
