The Saints’ long-term contract offer is so low, running back Pierre Thomas smartly won’t risk passing up any money in 2010.
The Super Bowl starting running back signed his restricted free agent tender on Monday, a league source confirmed. The one-year contract pays Thomas $1.684 million — more money than he made in base salary over the last three years combined.
Thomas and the Saints are at odds over the running back’s potential. New Orleans’ most recent offer to Thomas was one for a mediocre backup running back.
In addition to Thomas, NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that Lance More will sign his tender later this week. The June 15th deadline ultimately isn’t significant to him.
