Pierre Thomas signs on with Saints

The Saints’ long-term contract offer is so low, running back Pierre Thomas smartly won’t risk passing up any money in 2010.

The Super Bowl starting running back signed his restricted free agent tender on Monday, a league source confirmed.  The one-year contract pays Thomas $1.684 million — more money than he made in base salary over the last three years combined.

Thomas and the Saints are at odds over the running back’s potential.  New Orleans’ most recent offer to Thomas was one for a mediocre backup running back.

In addition to Thomas, NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that Lance More will sign his tender later this week.  The June 15th deadline ultimately isn’t significant to him.

And then there were 13.

It staggers me how teams that find great success through incredible talents like Pierre Thomas turn stingy and sour and refuse to pay. Cripes, we all watch the games. No Thomas, no Superbowl. The Saints have already taken the highway exit for the road to ruin: the head coach acts more like a self-centered fool every month, and suddenly management is more important than players. Hubris.

    Lance Moore.
The extra “o” is of significance to him.

Lance Moore might sign his tender later this week, Lance More is usually the punchline of bad jokes.
I hope the upcoming publication is more accurate.

    Hey Zombie:
A healthy Lance Moore is a complete badass. Look at his stats in 2008.
He was hurt all last year (2-different high ankle sprains) but was healthy for the SB.
Who else makes that catch for the 2-point conversion???
    NOBODY.
Also, smart for PT, but he’s NOT happy… the Saints NEED to give this cat some scratch.
    He deserves it.

The PFT summit apparently didn’t help with the one real big problem on this site. 3G’s can’t read or write, and apparently has no desire to learn. :( Very disappointing.

Good, I hope PT kicks ass this year! Then hopefully the Saints will pay him what he’s really worth.
