The NFL-USO Coaches Tour reconvenes this summer with four men who head up NFL franchises heading to the Persian Gulf for a visit with our troops.
This year, Vikings coach Brad Childress, Eagles coach Andy Reid, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, and Panthers coach John Fox will make the trip.
Childress has a child in the military, and Fox’s father served in the Navy Seals.
“Since my son has enlisted in the Marine Corps, I have learned a new appreciation for the freedoms we all enjoy and take for granted,” Childress said in a release issued by the league. “Our armed forces are the most highly-skilled, best-trained men and women in the world. Their character is on display on a daily basis because they’re an all-volunteer force. We all owe them a debt of gratitude and this trip is a small way of saying thank you.”
The NFL has sent players and coaches to boost troop morale for more than 40 years. In 2008, Commissioner Roger Goodell joined players on a USO trip to Iraq and Afghanistan.
For some reason, the thought of any of the other Commissioners doing the same thing brings to mind visions of Mike Dukakis driving a tank.

Our troops recently helped find untapped mineral mines in Afghanistan. That country is about to become f-ing loaded
But according to Harry Reid we are just going in there and killing innocent women and children.
I didn’t know that Childress’ kid was a Marine. This IS an example of the acron falling very far from the tree
Coach ‘em up. Get that damn conflict over with.
Andy Reid’s probably looking forward to some peace and quiet in the war zone.
Andy Reid doesn’t have any children in the armed forces, but maybe his sons’ parole officers do.
I sure hope these four men have good answers as to why they did not serve in the military when they had the chance. It is too long to type in here, but Jimmy Johnson’s answer was as lame as could be, something to do with his momma wanted to watch him play football in college.
Hey, for as much as I bash Childress, his son has my respect. The gerbil buying Viking fans should be proud for just this one moment then we can go back to the war of words.
Brad “Red Hot Chilly Peppers” Childress
“Handy” Andy Reid
“Starvin’” Marvin Lewis
John “Fair and Balanced” Fox “News”
Obviously memories of Dukakis are painful ones for Florio, since he voted for him…..
Title shoud read “Quartet of mediocrity will head to Persian Gulf for USO tour”

Mike McCarthy wanted to go.
But with Reid already on board…
There is a weight limit.
WOW
Andy going to the war zone where are they going to find a flack jacket to fit that body?
Ok had to get that one out but truth is good going maybe some of the spoiled rich players should take the trip and see what real men do for a living and how little they get paid to really put there life on the line.
Maybe the NFL should make it part of the next contract let AP and Revis see what the real world is like they will come running how and suit up in a heart beat
Punks rich spoiled brats
Hey, if Dukakis was good enough for Elizabeth Darko,
he should be good enough for you, Florio!
p.s. I know some sources say Dukakis was
actually driving…but it seems more likely
he was a passenger…
Where are they going to get Andy vest? They don’t make vest for his build.
Go Eagles!

Probably half of the Army is a similar size. So the Army should have no problem in providing one.
