Oh and Micheal LaRocca - you are prime example of how fans kick you when you're down. When Sean Gilbert came to the Panthers, he did great, you really need to check the stats. It was only when he started getting older (which all players do) and sustained some major injuries (including a broken hip injury, after which he got up and walked off the field but ultimately ending his career one season later) , that his game began to go downhill. That's when all the talk began. All I can say is the NFL is looking out for themselves. When these players sign contracts, they are so many stipulations in them it would put your head in a tailspin. Revis' contract has that he needed to have so many passes defended. Do you even think if he didn't get that number that the Jets wouldn't approach him about his "lack of play" and he would lose money. So if he more than fulfills all the clauses and stipulations, isn't it only fair that he now say, I did ALL you asked of me, now pay me.

And to HC......If he who represents himself for a client is a fool, then what do you call a person who takes legal advice from Sean Gilbert?
This isn't legal advice Sean Gilbert is giving his nephew, this is advice from a person who has been dogged by the NFL. A person who has seen the cut throat attitude of the NFL. A person who has been blackballed for standing for what he believes against a "society" of unbelievers.
And to contract...You should do your research because Sean Gilbert had a very successful career as a defensive tackle. Check the stats.
It's funny to me how many people can through negative comments at DR now that he is standing for what he believes he is due. I think it's admirable. How many of us would be willing to go against the majority or the norm for what we believe. Sean Gilbert did it and now his nephew is doing it. Sounds like a solid foundation family to me. One I would be proud to be a part of.

Football as we know it is a sport fun to watch but behind the scenes it's a brutal business, if Revis got hurt or just didn't perform as well as he did last yr., the Jets would show him the stats n tell him he fell off a little and try to negotiate based upon that. And to answer your question, Indy eage, yes, Sean Gilbert did get his 5mil and if any of you knew God, you would know that He does speak to His people and He does give direction and instruction. Furthermore, sometimes it's situations just like Sean Gilbert's that allows God to see whether His people really trust Him or will they allow what "people" say to determine their faith in Him. Obviously, SG didn't allow what people said to sway him from what God said and God honored his stance. You must know that SG got some of the same sarcastic remarks that you all are making back then and he didn't budge. I guess you'll just have to wait and see if that same type blood is in Darrelle Revis.

Somefans.
Revis did it since his first game as an NFL player, being a damn good NFL CB. Just last year he had one of the greatest years in the history of the NFL.
hes only going to get better, which is frightening. Which proves again you dont know ur ass from your elbow, only what revis did LAST YEAR.
and get a new name...you sound like a f**kin fool saying "jests". its so stupid its unreal
also when you say "revis is a bum" it proves to all of us and yourself that you should have no opinion on the game of football.

Gotta love the stupid jests fans. Revis did it for one year. Nnamdi has done it year after year. How in the world can Revis think he is as good? Not saying he might not be as good, but until he does it more than one year in a row I'll never fall for it. And don't tell me that he has done it every year because I watch a lot of football and hardly even heard of the guy until last year. Keep drinking the kool-aid jests fans.

The Skins where offering Gilbert a 3 year deal with a 3.5mil/yr average.
He wanted 5mil/yr.
Carolina gave him 7yr/46.5 mil (and coughed up 2 first rounders) after sitting out a year. Nice.
Sitting on his ass for a year in Aliquippa (Pittsburgh plug) earned him an extra 3+mil/yr.
Good find.... Would not be surprised if he does sit out this year. Can't blame him either.
Revis wants 16-17mil/yr. Already threw out 20 as the ceiling and 15.1 as the floor. Jets probably offering 12-14mil/yr. He knows he can do better.

Revis is just a stubborn bastard. Nmamdi gets the kind of money he makes because if it wasn't for the lucrative contract he would be playing for a team this is a playoff contender. If Revis gets the big bucks and a year down the road the Jets have to release/trade other star players that want to get paid he is going to feel pretty stupid that his team went from Superbowl bound to missing playoffs in order to give him what he "deserves."
