Titans linebacker McRath suspended for using performance enhancers

G. McRath.jpgAnother young linebacker has been suspended for violating the league’s performance enhancing policy.

Titans strong-side linebacker Gerald McRath will miss the first four games of the season, coach Jeff Fisher announced on Monday.  A starter at the end of last season, Tennessee expected big things from the Southern Mississippi product this season.

Details regarding what McRath did wrong have yet to be revealed, but it could be a costly mistake for the Titans.  The team may now feel forced to pay David Thornton $4 million to stick around.

Keith Bulluck also appears more likely to get re-signed now at a thin position for Tennessee.

I’ll be astonished if McRath gets the same public castigation that was meted out to Brian Cushing on these pages.

The only thing on the Titans I thought was on performance enhancers was Jeff Fisher’s stache.

poor guy, if only he had won DROY he would be exempt from punishment and rewarded for cheating

Without the performance enhancers McRath will be the “weak side” linebacker.

Who cares? Brian Cushing was probably only the tip of the iceberg, and you know what?
Jimmy Crack Corn, and I don’t care..
As long as these dudes aren’t killing people, getting DWIs, or abusing woman, I say let them be.. when they cross the off the filed illegal line, that’s where I make judgements. Even then, it’s probably no worse than any other industry.
Leave your moral standards for non-professionals, i.e. Collegiate, High School, Pee Wee, etc..
Every play in the NFL is like a car wreck, I expect them to be using performance enhancers and pain killers, anything else, well, would be uncivilized..

To bad he dont play for the Biqueens, he could have this pushed off until after he retires. Just like the roid wall.

So -thats- why he was an impact player in NCAA 09.

Clearly he wasn’t on them (or for that matter, the rest of the team) when they went to Gilette last year.

So how many backups will be starting for Tennessee week one?

The picture looks like McRath has three arms. Now THAT would be performance enhancing.

Woo hoo! The Raiders are one step closer to winning their opening road game.
CHRIS JOHNSON, hold out for as long as you can… you are definitely underpaid and the Titans need to PAY YOU! If it goes beyond Week One, so much the better!! :)

Of course McRath won’t get the ire Cushing did. Cushing won ROY honors and made the Pro Bowl based on his tainted performances….

Two Titans in two days. The fun just doesn’t stop!!!

The side effects of this performance enhancer include excess hair and limb growth.

    Taking steroids/HGH w/o a prescription is illegal.

Yeah, but its doubtful he took either (definitely not HGH, the only way you can get popped for it is if a doctor/supplier implicates you somehow). Most of what is sold at your local GNC is banned by the NFL. There needs to be a different classification (even if not a different penalty) for “banned substance” vs. “steroid”.
