Vince Young prays that he'll avoid a suspension

With a fairly open and shut case of assault pending against him, thanks to a high-quality surveillance video, Titans quarterback Vince Young hopes that he won’t be suspended.

“I pray to God that Roger Goodell doesn’t come down hard on me, because I
definitely want to be here for my teammates,” Young said Monday, per Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com.

As we mentioned earlier tonight, linebacker Joey Porter received in 2008 a fine in the amount of one game check for assaulting former Bengals tackle Levi Jones in Las Vegas.  Whether that precedent has any relevance in the wake of a the six-game suspension imposed on Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger remains to be seen.

I’m pretty sure God doesn’t give a crap whether Young is suspended.

Vince certainly had other things on his mind in that strip club besides “his teammates”…….he’ll threaten to have a nervous breakdown when he meets goodell and roger will feel sorry for the nutcase.

Suspend him for a game. He needs to be taught a lesson. This attack was on video and because a guy gave him an upside down Longhorn hand sign?? Are you kidding me? What a joke. He tosses a woman aside to attack a man over a hand signal. Grow up you bum.

One game suspension at most. Probably just a fine like Porter got. I am sick and tired of hearing for a six game suspension because of Ben. VY didn’t rape anyone like Ben (allegedly) and this would be no news had it happened any time during the season. It is the off season so this is Front Page story for a few days. Steelers fans need to shut up about it your QB is a disgrace not only to the NFL but the human race. At least VY knows he did wrong and is thinking of his team and praying that he will not be punished. The punishment has to fit the actions Ben’s punishment was fair as VY will be. And no I am not a Titians fan or a Steelers hater.

Yeah, that was pretty funny when J Peezy beat the crap out of Levi, who went crying to momma (Goodell)
On the strength of that fond remembrance, I’m officially moving J Peezy up to my 7th favorite all-time Steelers outside linebacker

    Oh gawd.
If Goody Goody Goodell punishes Young for an almost-punchless literally-momentary scuffle instigated by a club lackey which compelled some club snitch to call the Dallas PD who then, regretfully and regrettably, cited-not-arrested Young for an offense that — in their words — was “equivalent to receiving a traffic citation”’
… he might as well punish players for spitting in the shower, not flushing a urinal, swearing in public, incidental littering, speeding citations, failures to yield, turn signal omissions, driving while texting, crosswalk violations, disturbing the peace, not curbing their dogs, unlicensed pets, broken taillights, expired vehicle registration, expired driver’s licenses, uninsured vehicles, brawling during OTAs, camps & practices — while Florio renames “days without an arrest” to “hours without piety”.

hey the door is open. NFL players actually charged with crimes should be punished at least as much as those who were accused of crimes. If Ben had been guilty it would have been a worse crime than VY looking like Carlton throwing a punch. But Goodell can’t start subverting the American Legal system by himself. He needs to remain consistent, so this should probably be a two game suspension.

Who’s buyn this I want to be there for my team crap? Wtf! R u kidding me? If this sack of shit was thinking about his teammates why the F are is he n the club? Your a piece of shit Young that just doesnt get it. Your too stupid. But the stupid one is Bud Adams. Hes too stupid to realize your playn him like a fiddle (10% upgrade from Jamarcus Russell). Sad thing is Fishers a good coach and never win a SB now wit VY wasting his career away. Everyone knows his thoughts about having VY at the helm. Cant blame the guy.
Do Tennessee and their fans a favor and go play in the street Vince.

If he was that big into praying, he probably wouldn’t have been in the strip club in the first place, much less assaulting someone.
He should get a two game suspension with his history of being a nutsack.
I always get a kick out of Vince’s boys sticking up for him when he’s had a couple of good plays but they get quiet when he starts screwing up. Based on the number of people on Houston talk radio “who ran with” or “played ball with” Vince, there must have been 4,000-5,000 people on that Madison HS football team. Losers with no talent always try to attach themselves to someone who has even a little.

How about something different? Start suspending guys during Summer Training camp. Let them report to the team on the morning of their first regular season game.
Or, waive suspensions until the playoffs begin. Depending on the miscreant’s crime, suspend him for 1, 2, or even 3 playoff games.

  29. TheChosen1 says: Jun 15, 2010 6:44 AM

The Bible tells you that you reap what you sow. If you sow to your flesh corruption you will reap of those actions. If VY reaps a suspension it’s the consequences to the seed he’s sowing in his life. This is not Monopoly and Christ is not your get “Get out of jail free” card.

  31. steelerfan9598 says: Jun 15, 2010 7:10 AM

Only difference is that VY ACTUALLY assaulted someone (and knocked a woman out of the way to get there). Key word with Ben is allegedly. If allegedly is six games then ACTUALLY should be 8.

I believe Mort reported yesterday that VY will avoid a suspension because of the professional way he has handled the situation after the fact.
Mort reported that, so it’s bad news for Vince. Expect a suspension.

  37. poonhok says: Jun 15, 2010 10:14 AM

If you want to punish the Titans organization, do not suspend Vince Young.
    He is not starter material.
This year, he will throw as many interceptions as touchdowns.
Kerry Collins, get ready to start midseason, because Vince will again show why (next to Vick) he is the most overhyped, underperforming QB in the league (don’t bother with the “Vince just wins” crap, outside one or two games he hasn’t carried the team on his shoulders like good/great QB’s do…)

  38. runtheball says: Jun 15, 2010 10:22 AM

He should have hit a white guy, then he could have played the race card. They probably will not suspend him. As embarassing as his conduct is to the league, him going on suicide watch when he gets suspended would be more embarassing.
