Week Two game between Titans and Steelers could be a first

As the Titans and the NFL continue to process information relating to the weekend assault “citation” issued to Tennessee quarterback Vince Young, Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com points out a scheduling wrinkle that could become incredibly pertinent come September.

The Titans are schedule to face the Steelers in Week Two.  And with Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger already facing a suspension that will cover at least the first four games, both starting quarterbacks could be suspended in the same game for violating the Personal Conduct Policy.

That said, the league likely won’t suspend Young, given that he has no prior violations of the Personal Conduct Policy.  In 2008, then-Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter coughed up a game check after pleading no contest to assaulting former Bengals tackle Levi Jones at a Las Vegas casino.

Then again, things have changed lately in the NFL, in light of Roethlisberger’s penalty.  But it would indeed be a shocker if Young walks out of 280 Park Avenue with a suspension of any duration.

Neither one of these teams is playoff bound

This could be a first? Isn’t this what the stupid pre-season looks like for the most part?

Welcome to the National Felon League.
    What an embarrassment.

Maybe Vince and Big Ben could go clubbing together, even if they can’t play in the same game.

sounds like a off season buddy/reality TV show. oops, I just gave them the idea.

@DirtDawg55: I don’t know that may create a problem if they hung out. Ben would want to go to a college bar to hit on young chicks, whereas Vince would want to go see the Chippendale dancers.

should be two game suspension if Goodell has the guts to ‘apply’ the star treatment like Roethlisberger

This could work out great for both. Vincie could rough up boyfriends while rapistburger ………well, you know, RAPES!!!!

No other violations of the personal conduct policy? o rly?
I could have sworn Vince was on the verge of offing himself because he was benched in favor of a 36 year old journeyman quarterback. I guess suicide attempts are ok by Goodell’s standards.

The league won’t suspend Young because he has no prior violations of the Personal Conduct Policy?? All that wackadoodle drama in 08 doesn’t count, huh? Wasn’t there a gun involved? He was actually cited by police for this strip club thing, right?
Roethlisberger had no prior violations of the Personal Conduct Policy. No wackadoodle team dramas. No gun incidents. The vaginal exam of his accuser found NO evidence of intercourse. Police found no evidence against him. He’s never been arrested, charged, OR cited by any law-enforcement agency.
I love the smell of hypocrisy in the evening.

The nfl is truly turning into a soap opera. Well either that or the media puts its nose in everything. So that only concludes one thing. The nfl is so beyond the game of football anymore its a shame.

Don’t expect Goodell to push down any suspension. The PCP is a pointless PR tool. With Vince’s situation, there have now been 250 player arrests/citations since he took over. 16 have faced PCP suspension – a mere 6%. Roger uses the PCP only when the media stir becomes too great and he fears lost revenue.
Until such time as the PCP is enforced uniformly for all wrong-doers, it’s a mere shell of what is proposed to be.
Vince will skate free…like Eric Foster, Sean Peyton, Phillip Merling, Tom Cable, and 244 others have.

You got this scoop from Alex Marvez? Florio, if you read the comments to your own articles on your own blog, you would have known this could happen long ago after you posted your “League ‘will look into’ Vince Young situation” thread.

You mean the system is fair and equitable? How could that be…does Roger care about the morals of America? This isn’t about money, is it?

    Hey Deb,
The medical exam did reveal a “cut, bruises and vaginal bleeding. Some DNA evidence was seen, but the quantity of it was insufficient to determine who it belonged to. HOW did all that happen to the accuser?
Vince Young’s incident was harmless quit BEGGING.

  19. Klytus says: Jun 14, 2010 11:15 PM

If that’s the case Mr. Florio, then the Titans will have an excuse when they lose the game.
    GO STEELERS!

  20. Deb says: Jun 15, 2010 1:59 AM

    @Hehateme …
The exam revealed slight vaginal bruising and a small bleeding cut–also consistent w/consensual sex, fondling, masturbation–plus an infinitesimal amount of DNA too small to test or to have been the sole product of a rape. It could have come from hand contact or an earlier sexual encounter. (Asked if she’d sex w/anyone else that day, the DA wouldn’t comment.) No semen, sperm, pubic hair, or chemicals from a condom were found. Even withdrawal would have left enough semen/sperm for testing.
You’re the one begging for my attention. You’ve posted the same inaccurate comment to me on three threads … so far. Just realized you’re the disturbed racist who posted that you want to get rid of Roethlisberger because you think Steeler fans are afraid there are too many black players on the team. I made the mistake of trying to speak to you as a color-blind fan who doesn’t care about the team’s racial makeup and now you’re going to dog me on every thread. Don’t bother. Racism is racism. It doesn’t matter whether you’re Klan or you’re praying that a woman was raped so you can get rid of a white QB. Either way, you are a SICK PUPPY.

I have a large supply of new yellow towels and will be installing them in all men’s rooms toilet stalls. Even though the towels are “terrible,” they are still less abrasive that that cheap toilet paper in the mens room at LP field. Have fun defacing that lame towel.
