Atogwe to visit Seattle

A new contender has emerged for the services of free agent safety O.J. Atogwe: The Seattle Seahawks.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Atogwe is planning to visit Seattle next week.

Atogwe became an unrestricted free agent when the Rams declined to give him a tender offer of nearly $7 million by June 1. The market for Atogwe wasn’t quite as hot as some league observers expected, as teams including the Cowboys and Vikings said publicly that they weren’t interested, despite reports that they were potential landing spots for Atogwe.

Still, Atogwe is generally considered the best unrestricted free agent in the league right now, so signing him would be a big move for Seattle.

There’s still a good chance that Atogwe could stay in St. Louis, where he has played his entire five-year career. Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said last week that he’s “very, very hopeful” Atogwe will stay with the Rams.
