Fletcher: Haynesworth has "shown he can't be depended on"

L. fletcher.jpgA finalist for the NFL’s Man of the Year award in 2009, there may not be a more respected Redskins player than linebacker London Fletcher.

His words regarding his absent teammate Albert Haynesworth speak volumes.

“I want teammates who I can depend on, who I can count on,” Fletcher said to Rick Maese of the Washington Post. “[Haynesworth] has shown he can’t be depended on.”

Wow.  For the first time, we’re convinced Haynesworth doesn’t have a future with the team.

It’s one thing for a player to battle a front office, but it’s rare to see players publicly turn on a teammate.

Good for # 59 this guy plays his heart heart out.. If we had more players like this in the league it would be a better place

Who cares. Haynesworth had a good season or 2 and then the dumb Redskins gave him that big contract to just screw them lol!! I dont care for the Skins besides Portis, L Johnson, S Moss.

Someone should’ve told that stripper that Fat Albert got pregnant.

  4. CurseofBoJackson says: Jun 16, 2010 11:39 AM

Wow, I have all the respect in the world for Fletcher, and don’t necessarily blame him for feeling that way, he should. The tactic of publicly denouncing a teammate is risky business in this league. and rarely accomplishes anything positive. I’m surprised that he was willing to go public with that, perhaps he knows somehting about Haynesworth’s future we don’t?

  5. BigMikeSkinsFan says: Jun 16, 2010 11:40 AM

its not like he is lying. if anything Fletcher is a GREAT teammate and a constant pro.
This whole thing just sucks and Haynesworth might as well go play for Dallas now. I dislike him that much..
Good thing I didnt buy a jersey.

Annnd there’s still zero chance Haynesworth will change, alter, have a startling moment of epiphany or anything signifying he might, in some small glimmer, understand that his behavior is appalling.
He has so egregiously and appallingly thrown down any and all values connected to the NFL that everyone is disgusted with him. Truly astounding that he doesn’t see this.

I just want to see what team is going to be dumb enough next to sign this guy. You would have to be out of your mind

  8. bison4me2010 says: Jun 16, 2010 11:48 AM

Haynesworth should go play for a team like Dallas, he’ll be in great company of like minded people. And the owner is the older version of Snyder, who doesn’t want to be outdone. He’d give Fat Al 200 million and room him with Roy Williams.

  9. downwithdansnyder says: Jun 16, 2010 11:49 AM

And Fat Albert, no doubt, thinks he’s right and EVERYONE else is wrong.

  10. prophet of the light says: Jun 16, 2010 11:51 AM

They should have ditched him during the draft. He’s a 43 UT.

  11. Nebster21 says: Jun 16, 2010 11:51 AM

I would love for him to go to the Rams. Let his antics fly there. It is not as if they are heading in the right direction anyways. Of course he could pull a Warren Sapp and let his fading years die in Oakland.

  12. TheSleepness says: Jun 16, 2010 11:52 AM

i’ve followed fletcher’s career since St. Louis…this man is a great, great football player and this only adds to that. The most underrated player of the decade: London Fletcher.

  13. Tailgun says: Jun 16, 2010 11:53 AM

Seems to me that Dan Snyder should have spent more of that wasted money on Fletcher.

  14. MagicMan407 says: Jun 16, 2010 11:55 AM

When guys like London Fletcher speak people listen. This also means that Haynesworth will be cut and fined or traded. There is nothing at all that Haynesworth can do at this point now that he is being such a typical piece of shit that has seen green. He expects to just get all that money for playing 1 year for a team? He recieved over like 41 million dollars for playing 1 year? Is that even legal? Andre Carter doesnt like the 3-4 hes there working and not complaining. I bet Haynesworth is out of shape bad!!!!!

  15. MagicMan407 says: Jun 16, 2010 12:04 PM

I still dont understand how he can just take the money but not play? Its not like hes underpaid. How can he expect to just take the money and now say he wants to be traded? He didn’t even do anything the one year he was here so far. This guy should be in jail or kicked out of the NFL for this type of behavior.

  16. jaybebo says: Jun 16, 2010 12:06 PM

All those stating he should go to Dallas…won’t happen because Dallas runs a 3-4, which is the reason Haynesworth is not wanting to stay in Washington. I agree Fletcher should be upset with Haynesworth, but he should have taken his comments to Albert first…no result…make it public.

  17. EShine says: Jun 16, 2010 12:22 PM

jaybebo – how do you know Fletcher didnt try to reach out to Fat Albert? Given the leadership he’s shown, I’d imagine he’s tried on a number of occassions. There was no result – he made it public.
Fletcher is a team guy with a lot of cache build up with his teammates/coaches. This isnt some guy just running his mouth. If anyone is being disrespectful here it is Haynesworth. He took that $21 million bonus knowing he wasnt going to play another down with the Redskins. That’s BS. He likely could have gotten $21 mill gauranteed elsewhere if he’d walked away and acted appropriately. F him.

lmfao…you and Florio have practically been beggin a Redskin to say something bad about Haynesoworth…. pathetic.

Hard to have a conversation in person if one of the individuals is not there… don’t you think? Besides when Albert notified his agent he could take his stance public, he opened the door for the public to have an opinion, including Fletcher.

    good for Fletcher…someone had to say it…Haynesworth is a grade A SCUMBAG…

  21. SeaSteel says: Jun 16, 2010 12:47 PM

Who’s to say that Fletcher didn’t already make his feelings known to Haynesworth?

  22. D wins games says: Jun 16, 2010 12:52 PM

What a douchebag! As a Giants fan, I can only hope the Skins decide to keep Fat Albert. Hahahahahahaha

  23. alewatcher says: Jun 16, 2010 12:53 PM

Actually, it’s very simple: Haynesworth isn’t a true teammate. Nothing to lose by calling him out.
Glad to see he is still living up to his initials – AH.
(I still can’t believe the Skins paid this assclown that much money. Serves them right for the obvious tampering that went on.)

  24. HarrisonHits says: Jun 16, 2010 1:00 PM

Good for Fletcher. He’s always been a stand up professional and very hard worker. Its about time the players started speaking up about the turds in their midst.

It’s true, Fletcher is still a pro right now.

  26. mustbechris says: Jun 16, 2010 1:07 PM

he will be a raider at some point in the near future. or a viking.

  27. NomNoms says: Jun 16, 2010 1:13 PM

Im glad London is a nice guy. As a player he used to drive me nuts with his dancing and jumping around when he would make a tackle 6 yards downfield on a 1st and 10 play

  28. Turk says: Jun 16, 2010 1:22 PM

Fletcher would never say this if Haynesworth was in a contract dispute over money (i.e., a battle to get paid what he was worth). But Fletcher knows that Haynesworth is way overpaid so he has no sympathy for his hold out. Fletcher is the team leader so he has the clout to speak for the team. Good for him. Long overdue.

  29. Chiefs2010 says: Jun 16, 2010 1:31 PM

    understatement of the decade.

  30. TC says: Jun 16, 2010 1:55 PM

No, it’s not. This happens every off season & even during the season on multiple teams EVERY YEAR.
This whole article doesn’t make any sense. Haynesworth WANTS to leave. The perspective and eagerness to judge, convict and sentence is totally out of synch with reality…
    AGAIN…

And of course you are referring to how many times people refer to Dan Snyder as an idiot!

  32. sdffa11 says: Jun 16, 2010 4:53 PM

the fact he waited until after he got his $21million shows how much of a jerk he is. He knew before april 1st the redskins were changing the defensive scheme but he chose to wait until june to request a trade. Classy move fat ass. I hope it comes back to bit him in the ass where he cant get a job in the league anymore.

  33. 49erFanLivingInDallas says: Jun 16, 2010 10:45 PM

i bet you he’ll be playing for the lions next year. it makes perfect sense.
