Not long ago, the Big 12 conference teetered on the brink of a full-blown implosion. But then Texas renewed its vows with the group that truly has become the Big 10, with the defections of Nebraska to the new Big 12-And-Counting and Colorado to the Pac-Whatever.

Enter Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. With a gleaming new football cathedral in Dallas available to host any number of Big 12 games -- and possibly two of them simultaneously -- Jones has a vision for the conference.

Our sister site, CFT, has the details.

For starters, Jones wants his alma mater, Arkansas, to join the Big 12 from the SEC. But here’s the whopper. And, with Jones, there’s always a whopper.

He wants the Big 12 to add Notre Dame.

Frankly, we’d never, ever bet against the guy. Except when it relates to his NFL team winning a playoff game.
