"Enhanced season" enhances the divide between NFL and union

It’s supposed to be the sssslow period in the NFL.  But, apparently, there’s never a sssslow period in the NFL.

And we’re fine with that.

Partially filling Wednesday’s news cycle?  The first meeting between the NFL and the players’ union in nearly four months, followed by an all-out effort from the league to sell the media (and the public) on the merits of the “enhanced season,” which potentially could be sponsored by the folks at Enzyte.

We wrote about it yesterday, but we had some more stuff to add.  And since my carpal tunnel is acting up, I decided to talk about it instead.

I think the NFL risks putting an inferrior product on 32 fields in weeks 18 and 19 if they go to an enhanced season………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Players are pretty much beaten and battered after 16 games. And now after being beaten and battered for 8 or more games, teams are asked to turn around on 4 days off and play another game. Injuries come easier when a body is torn and tattered. What are players going to have left to give going into the playoffs?…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Every team plays a Thursday Night game. Each team gets 2 byes. Their regular bye, and a bye before each Thursday game. Having a bye before a Thursday eliminates the extra homefield advantage the home team has in Thursdays games. And aftet playing Thursday night, the players have another 10 days before they have to play again. This gives the NFL 20 weeks of games instead of 18. And the NFL can sell the Thursday Night games creating more revenue. If a network can’t pay for a full slate of Thursday Night games, they can sell 1/2 season to 2 networks.

I think it’s time the fans had some say in all of this.

well if you’re unwilling to play for the ridiculous amt you get for playin’ football – unlike others who put their lives & livelihood on the line daily to support their families (for ridiculously less) – then i say (like my old coach said) SHUT UP & PLAY – or -

Just have less Preseason too. This could easily be done. 20 weeks, 2 byes, 18 games.
