First-round pick gets arrested

A relatively arrest-free offseason has given way to a handcuff free-for-all in June.

And now the 2010 rookies, apparently applying a “When in Rome” vibe, are getting in on the act.

Titans defensive end Derrick Morgan, the 16th overall pick in the draft, has been arrested in Georgia, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

Per the report, Morgan was apprehended Wednesday for speeding and for driving with a suspended license.

Morgan, who played college football at Georgia Tech, was driving 91 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone.

  1. Vinve Young, and now this guy. Nice team you have there. Can’t wait until they change the name to the Tennessee Bengals.

  2. ESPN had Morgan going to the Raiders, remember?
Guess Al Davis isnt as crazy as I thought.

Georgia must be a regular shit-magnet…
hehe… says the native of Cleveland, Ohio…

  4. Hey Dumbass: Not only do you not have a license but you are driving/speeding! I’m just saying “Hey Dumbass!”

  5. “Vinve Young, and now this guy. Nice team you have there. Can’t wait until they change the name to the Tennessee Bengals.”
Wow beat the dead horse more Bengals year of trouble was 2006 get over it.

  6. vince young assaulting someone is one thing; but morgan just got a speeding ticket. the two things are on much different levels.

  7. alabaster–read again. He didn’t just get a speeding ticket. He was arrested, which isn’t normal in the event of a speeding ticket. More accurately, he was arrested for driving with a suspended license, and he was speeding.

  8. every football fan that read the headline clicked on here while holding thier breath,,,wheeeew, just the titans again, thank god

  9. Lets see….holdout, QB with his name tattoed across his shoulders (must be for useful for ‘down low’ activities…) and now this…
…keep steppin’ on the terrible towel! hahahaha

***************************** You think so?!? They signed Pac Man Jones, you dweeb. that’s good for another 4 arrests this year alone!

  11. This isn’t THAT big a deal but you do have to wonder how smart a guy is when he drives 12 mph over the speed limit with a suspended license. It’s one thing to have your license suspended, even driving with a suspended license I can understand but not being smart enough to drive carefully under those circumstances is pretty puzzling.

  12. Dude the Titans will be SOOO awesome this year.
Once Wince Dung starts throwing like Flipper – and Chris Johnson gets his bling and quits trying, and their 1st round pick gets executed via firing squad,
    LOOK OUT

  13. Raping, killing dogs, selling drugs, beating up chicks, speeding ticket… Which one doesn’t belong?

  14. I’m soooooo glad the Falcons landed Weatherspoon. Morgan was the local favorite. Titans just can’t get those first round picks right

  15. Logged on for the first time in 6 months to say that the first 2 sentences made me laugh outloud. Well done.

Bit Me you POS!! Pitt stole that rap months ago.
    Who Dey Forever

  18. The Titans keep this up they are going to have to draft the Vols to be able to put a team on the field.

  19. Hmmm…driving 91 mph in a 70-mph zone when your license is suspended. Proof that the Titans have started drafting players that scored higher on the Wonderlic than VY?!?

  20. Let’s see here, I’m gonna go with raping! It seems to be the only one without an arrest! Come on guys, you’ve bagged a whore before! The only reason she didn’t cry rape on you is because you don’t have anything other than a c**k to go after!

  21. @broncobourque –
Says the guy with the math skills of a 1st grader…
but yeah, if you’re gonna drive illegally…go the freakin speed limit.

  22. If he had only gone over 100 mph, you could trade him to the Vikings and he’d fit right in.

  23. digitalbath- yeah i definitely held my breath for a second hoping to not see the Bengals name in the article. lol whew. glad to see it’s someone else.

  24. Everyone is overreacting. The Titans will give him $15,000,000.00, he’ll pay his fine and become like many before him in the league. See, money can buy you a free pass.

  25. Okay, AP lovers. Tell me how this is fair. Your boy goes 109 in a 55 and pays a $300 fine and keeps his license. This kid goes 91 in a 70 and is arrested. Can you say double standard?

  26. Oh, okay, he was driving with a suspended license. Missed that part. Of course, AP should be in the same boat.

AP didn’t have a suspended liscense retard.
Also, I wish the speed limit was 70 here, what the hell.

  28. Generic title of this article scared me for a second. It’s cool fellow bengal fans, it wasn’t Gresham.
    WE’RE IN THE CLEAR

Can you say “driving on a suspended license”? Or can you just not read?
I’m guessing his license is suspended because he likes to drive fast.

  30. follow-up:
Morgan never received notification that GA suspended his license and was driving unaware…
anyone who’s ever dealt with GA (or TN) DMV/DDS knows this is completely believable…I actually feel sorry for this guy and the red tape he will now have to wade thru…

  31. Suspended licence or not, going almost double the speed limit AP should have gone to jail for being a complete idiot!

  32. who stops for the cops /…. Rookies..
put that pedal down and drive directly to your attourney’s house…
    havent these kids learned anything

    Speeding ticket… big deal.
    ——————-
Umm, it’s the driving w/o a license thing that is the main problem here. Didn’t Vincent Jackson do this last year too? Why do they bring attention to themselves???
Attention Athletes: If you are going to drive with a suspended license you should be driving like your 90 year old grandmother. 5 miles below the speed limit. Hands at 10 and 2. Seatbelt on. Turn signals used at every turn.

  34. They arrested him for speeding? What kind of craziness is this? Those GA state troopers should be ashamed of themselves. Don’t they have better crimes to occupy themselves with.

  35. Wow, hasn’t played a down in the NFL and already is arrested. Way to go Eagles for passing on him! Brandon Graham will have more sacks and will beat this kid out for Defensive Rookie of the Year!

  36. you can’t reset the arrest meter for this since he’s not officially part of the NFL because he doesn’t have a contract signed.

  37. Not exactly the sharpest blade in the drawer to be doing 91 on a suspended license.
Cue the ‘I had no idea it was suspended, I was never notified’ excuse – which of course disregards whatever it was that caused his license to be suspended in the first place.

  38. Nice call on that one Jeff Fisher. You still may be able to trade him for two gallons of mustache cream.
