Lions forfeit OTA days too

Add a fourth name to the OTA violations scoreboard.

The Lions forfeited their two final two organized team activities after violating the NFL’s collective
bargaining agreement.

We learned Jaguars were similarly docked two days this morning, while the Raiders and Ravens received slaps on the wrist last week.

The impact of the lost days is debatable.  Many teams only use 10-12 of the maximum 14 OTA practices anyhow.

The timing of all the reported violations is interesting, though.  Florio railed for years that contact at non-contact practices ran rampant throughout the offseason.  With the collective bargaining agreement hanging over the league, it appears players finally have started to report the violations.

The Lions reconvene for mandatory minicamp next Wednesday.

The punishment right now may not be severe, but it’s a warning shot.

Lord knows we need every little bit of practice we can get……..

Its not a big deal really. If you are having a good practice why not extend it to get the most out of it and cut a day or so at the end.
Severe? Warning shot? or common sense.

Boo-hoo. Players “reporting violations” as if they are in some kind of bonafide labor union…digging coal out of the mines, or something. These folks are paid millions of dollars, and they are worried about having to go to practice too much. What-ever.

Guarantee if this was the Patriots, we’d be being bitched out by every retard on this site.

The Lions are so good they don’t need the extra practice anyway.

Patriots were probably video taping the OTA for the Thanksgiving game

  10. patriotscpfc says: Jun 17, 2010 1:54 PM

    I don’t have a glass jaw.
Patriots managed to complete their OTAs without being bitched out by the CBA and their own players telling their Commish about what they were doing wrong.
    0-16. 16-0.

I’m just wondering out loud here , so anyone with some input please post a response. What’s to stop the offense , Calvin , Matt & co. to say find a highschool field somewhere and just fling the ball around.I’m sure it couldn’t be considered an “official” OTA ….could it ?

    Dude, i’m winding you up.
I’ve got no problem with the Lions at all. Think you will be shocking a few teams this year.
As for front-running, i’m English and fly out to Boston twice a year to see the Patriots. My family have supported the team since Grogan and Eason were destroyed by the Bears.
And you should see the soccer team I support. They suck.
    Best for ROTY.
    Jets Suck.

Ha, you’re from England huh? They should ban you redcoats from entering our country. Stick to that sissy game you play over there, futball.

Theres no way in HELL Foxboro has been sold out for 17 years, id love to see your proof. The team almost moved to L.A in the early 90s. I’m from the east coast, i’ve been to that old dump Foxboro Stadium in the mid-90s when it was half full (to root against the pats, of course). You only started to notice Pats jersey in the Boston area from 2001-on!! Like megatron said, stick to following kickball. You buffoons cant even get that right…nice golaie!! haha

  17. patriotscpfc says: Jun 17, 2010 5:27 PM

    It’s football.
At least our game doesn’t last 4 hours for about 20 minutes of action.
I’d also like to thank BP for improving the US coastline.

Who the hell knows when a soccer game ends? The BP joke was? Really make fun of disaster just to prove that soccer/football is good? Stay classy England!
