At least one player is in favor of the 18 game season

Tom Brady and Ray Lewis spoke up right away with their concerns regarding a possible 18-game regular season. Justin Tuck hopes he’s retired before any change happens, and his teammates agree.

At least one NFL player digs the notion, however, of playing more games that count. And it’s for the same reason the NFL owners want 18 games. Bears linebacker Lance Briggs sees a chance to make more cash.

I’ll take an 18-game schedule over four preseason games where we all get paid $1,100 a game,” Briggs told the Chicago Tribune. “Yes, absolutely, I think that players who are going out there are under-compensated for the work that we put out there on the field in the preseason.”

Briggs admitted some downside but believes the pros outweigh the cons of “enhancing” the season. The trick will be how the players and owners split up the new revenue pie.

“We like money,” Briggs said with a laugh.
