Bengals dump Keiwan Ratliff, four others

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced that they’ve parted ways with several players.

Gone is veteran cornerback Keiwan Ratliff, who entered the league as a second-round draft pick of the Bengals in 2004.  After four years in Cincy, he spent one in Tampa, two in Indy, and one in Pittsburgh.

The Bengals waived safety Bryan Evans, running back Walter Mendenhall, punter Jake Richardson, and cornerback DeAngelo Willingham.  Mendenhall is the younger brother of Steelers starting running back Rashard Mendenhall.

  1. No surprise there. Keiwan is garbage. This is not even important news really. All they’re doing is cutting fat so they can start signing some draft picks.

  2. Not that anyone cares or cares to actually research (Florio) but Walter is actually older than Rashard.

  3. Someone needs to check their math. It says here that Ratliff was drafted in 2004, meaning he has 6 years of NFL expirience. Yet you’ve credited him with 8 years in the league with 4 different teams. Someone needs a refresher in 2nd grade math.

  4. Did Ratliff split time during the same season with atleast 2 of those teams because if not the math does not add up for how many years he was on each team if he entered the league in 2004

  5. second-round draft pick of the Bengals in 2004

    Say What?
    4+1+2+1=8
    2004 + 8 years is way off.
What? Not in this town. You can’t get there from here.
    Florio is time warping.

  6. Your math astounds me (or I don’t know what year it is)
    2004 Drafted
    2004-2007 Bengals
    2008 Buccaneers
    2009-2010 Colts
    2011 Steelers
    2010 Cut by Bengals???

I was about to correct him, but you already did. In fact, the younger Mendenhall is miffed at how Illinois used his older brother by giving him a scholarship to get the younger one to come to the same school, then discarded his brother once the Rashard had come. I would be miffed, too.

  8. Sign Shipley please ASAP, I would expect that he and Jermaine would be the priorities aside from the late rounders like Muckelroy and Briscoe.

  9. Sorry Keiwan, you gotta go. We expected you to at least have committed a crime by now, whether it be several misdemeanors, assault & battery, or the classic DUI. However, if you can find a way to get arrested for soliciting an underage prostitute and be in possession of drugs, Dallas might want you. Otherwise, this league has no room for citizens that behave themselves. Good luck.

It’s “cut the fat”, not cut the meat, moron.

  11. No surprise here…. Hell, they had 89 players on the roster. 9 OVER the limit for Camp.
    Oh, yeah…nice math Kornflorio.

For you ignorant douchers, that’s 6 years. Relax and pitch a retard fit elsewhere.

  13. I don’t know if the freakin week (and zero games) he played in Tampa can really be considered spending “a year” in tampa. Hell, that doesn’t even really constitute a “stint”

But, I like the Germanification you’ve given it…it’s very European!!

  16. Thanks for the clarification Cinci Slammer. Florio had me confused there as well, Ratliff obviously spent the first 3 1/2 years of his career with the Bengals.

  17. Hounds et al : Yeah we care. The Rashard/Walter story is an interesting story. I too would have corrected but…
The Illinois thing is common. I know a famous pitcher that took a scholarship at ‘the U’ because they were kind enough to give his girlfriend a volleyball scholarship. It happens all the time.
