Jarrad Page requests a trade from the Chiefs

Earlier this week, we tried to figure out what was going on with unsigned Chiefs restricted free agent safety Jarrad Page.

Now we have a better idea.

Page’s representation sent a press release to PFT on Friday night indicating they submitted a “formal trade request” to the Chiefs on Thursday.  The release notes that “Entering the 2009 season, Jarrad Page had more interceptions than any other safety selected in the 2006 draft class. Page
is entering his fifth NFL season.”

Page has started 39 games in four seasons and he’s produced plenty.  His problem is that he’s coming off a disappointing, injury-plagued campaign.

It’s hard to believe Page would inspire a big trade market, but perhaps a team would be willing to give up a late-round pick for a young potential starter.

I’ve seen it all. When mediocre players are “Demanding” trades something has gone awry. SMH

Jarrad Page is awful! Year after year he is statistically the worst starting safety for the amount of plays he’s in. Last year he was dead last in safety rankings! He should be honored that his job is being taken by Eric Berry!

  5. The Hogster says: Jun 18, 2010 8:06 PM

I hear his Home might be interested.

  6. rockotica says: Jun 18, 2010 8:10 PM

He does have a knack for timely interceptions, but can’t tackle, so that’s gonna be an issue….pioli probably used the formal trade request as a napkin and has already forgotten about this. page will be on the team come week 1.

    alldawayturntup –
You stole my thunder. I’ve never heard of him either. Sorry, but teams don’t trade for marginal players that are unhappy being rich and playing a kids game.

Does he get along with David Gibbs? (Texans are always looking for corners – at a reasonable price)

  9. 305phinphan says: Jun 18, 2010 8:24 PM

Dolphins can send a 7th rounder to the Chiefs for him.

Please Trade Him To Miami! We Need Another Safety!

  11. Poo Flinging Monkey says: Jun 18, 2010 8:49 PM

Another rat fleeing a sinking ship. Can’t say I blame him.

Ok, I’m a big chiefs fan and I really believe page thinks he’s odd man out being a herm Edwards pick in the new regime. Hey if pioli and Haley will 86 Bernard pollard, who was the one to take Tom Brady out then have a great season with the texans after they cut him. Also the 2010 #5 pick that is safety Eric berry. Page….. You can kiss your ass goodbye. Thanks for coming out

  13. JSpicoli says: Jun 18, 2010 9:01 PM

The Chiefs are the worst off, by far, of any AFC West team. Pioli and Haley are out of there within 2 years. Cassell gone after this season.

Jarrad Page isn’t a household name, and he might not have had a great year last year, but you can’t hold him completely responsible. When you have the league’s worst pass rush, it tends to make the entire defense look bad. Who knows what he could do on a team that had more pieces in place?

good, get rid of all the bums from the Edwards era.
This guy gets opportunist pics but can’t tackle well..
Chiefs will be better than Raiders and Denver..that much I can tell you..
KC baby, we got Berry this jerk can go play with the last safety who went to the Texans..

  19. Tr3pidation says: Jun 18, 2010 10:19 PM

Why would they trade for him when they could sign OJ Atogwe and not give up a draft pick…

  20. matthoover says: Jun 18, 2010 11:42 PM

Because you’ll pay Atogwe several million dollars more per season, that’s why.
As for Page, he was handed the starting role by Werm Edwards as a 7th Rounder with Bernard Pollard and both of them let it go to their heads. They both are bad-attitude guys and not good for the Chiefs. Page won’t be in Kansas City playing this year, but that doesn’t mean they’ll deal or release him.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he sat on the roster well into the season, and the Chiefs have no reason to do anything otherwise, unless someone will offer something for him. He’s played his last game in a Chiefs uniform, that’s for sure.
Lastly…the Chiefs are on the rise. Don’t be surprised if they win the AFC West this year.

  21. Coach Stram says: Jun 19, 2010 12:13 AM

Oh please…….I would have traded this bum before the ink was dry on his trade demand.
Blame it on the agents – they are the ones telling infected toenails like Page they are worth more than common sense AND the market would dictate.

  22. Icon says: Jun 19, 2010 12:16 AM

What a ridiculous organization mine once proud Chiefs have devolved into. egoli & hailme are as cluelsss a duo as has ever been seen – architects 16 losses in 2009 & well on their way to at least as many in 2010.
As a lifelong Chiefs fan I say “Stick you to your guns Jarrad.” As S Bernard Pollard proved last season, messers (not a typo) egoli & hailme are clueless – they’ve obviously learned notthing in the time since. Pollard is now an all-star caliber player for Houston. Meanwhile egoli & hailme – are well on their way another double-digit loss disaster. Until owner Hunt gets an competent GM & Head Coach, I’ll continue to laugh at the folly be my KC Chiefs. Good luck to you Jarrad and keep up the career ascent Pollard!
Both of you will be in the NFL long aft egoli & hailme have been removed the premises…

  23. madnova says: Jun 19, 2010 12:30 AM

Page’s representation needs to run some fact checking. I’m pretty sure Antoine Bethea’s 11 picks are more than Page’s 10. At least that’s how I was taught math.

  24. FergusonQB12 says: Jun 19, 2010 12:47 AM

Any of you who say you haven’t heard of him are casual fans. The guy is average to poor at best but any “football junkie” knows the ast majority of recent starters in the NFL. Reassess your claim of football knowledge.

  25. Bifftannen2 says: Jun 19, 2010 4:09 AM

Pollard is weak, statistically the 2nd most burnt safety in the NFL.

  26. JSpicoli says: Jun 19, 2010 5:33 AM

I am no Chefs fan dipshit.

  27. genericbrand says: Jun 19, 2010 7:17 AM

Not sure why alot of you are saying “good riddance we have Eric Berry now” when Berry and Page don’t even play the same position. Without Page that leaves the Chiefs, more then likely, starting McGraw at FS. Like it or not until Lewis develops Page is the best FS on the team.

  28. gooboy6 says: Jun 22, 2010 4:10 PM

page is the slowest safety in the league propped up by Herm who wanted to look like a genius for drafting him in the 7th round…hell be on the bench for somebody else next year after the Chiefs get a 6th rounder for him
