Report: Jammal Brown dealt to the Redskins

It was a rumor.  Now it’s something more firm.

Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports via Twitter that Saints left tackle Jammal Brown has been traded to the Redskins.

There’s no word yet on what the Saints will receive.  In unrelated news, Heaven is reporting an uptick in prayers containing the phrase “please not Albert Haynesworth.”

UPDATE:  Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Redskins are “trying to finalize” the trade, and that it’s not believed to include Haynesworth.

SECOND UPDATE:  Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Saints will receive a conditional draft pick.  Glazer also saw his shadow, which means that there will be at least six more weeks of summer.

this trade can easily be summed up as:
    redskins – gain: false hope
saints – gain: lower repeat chances

Depth-chart filler. I remember this guy not being all that good, & he’s damn sure not gonna start over Trent Williams. HAIL!

Interesting in a year when all eyes are on a labor agreement, with ownershhip crying poor mouth, and a franchise with a decade of losing in it’s belt can remain the most valuable in the league and continues to sign all the most talented, high priced players.
Sure is a risky investment, buying an NFL team.

Wow, the question is does this mean that Trent Williams isn’t as good as billed, or does it mean that the back ups, Stephan Heyer, Artis Hicks, Chad Rhinehart, and 7th round pick Selvish Capers?

  5. Postman says: Jun 19, 2010 3:46 PM

    Hooby,
Jammal Brown didn’t play a single snap last season. Trading Brown has no effect on whether the Saints can repeat.

@Zane — as a huge Skins fan myself, I like this. However, he’s not depth chart filler. Trent Williams (slated for LT) aside, have you noticed that giant, Jammal Brown-sized hole over at RT?

  8. ham1 says: Jun 19, 2010 3:48 PM

Yea offensive line. Complaints for years on not revamping the line and now this year we get some help.
Lets see what they paid for this “help”

this trade can easily be summed up as:
    redskins – gain: false hope
saints – gain: lower repeat chances
Why would this lead to lower chances of repeating for the Saints? They won the superbowl last year without Brown in the lineup.

@Zane I disagree if this guy is 100% we can move Trent Williams to the right side and put Artis Hicks at right guard, if this is true we have a very solid OL on paper and I must emphasize ON PAPER.

    ____________
Indeed I have, but from the limited accounts I’ve read from camp so far, Artis Hicks is doing pretty well on that side. Competition can be great & so can depth. Either way, I can’t help but wonder how JC could have done if this much attention had been paid to the O-line the last few years.

LT- Trent Williams LG-Derrick Dockery C-Casey Rabach RG-Artis Hicks RT-Jammal Brown
I like Mcnabbs chances of staying upright this season.

  18. Boudin says: Jun 19, 2010 4:47 PM

jammal brown is an excellent pickup for the skins. when healthy he is one of the best LTs in the game. with that said, he’s only got a year or two left in those knees. he should be a great stop gap while your draft pick gets up to speed.
seriously, JB is a monster when he’s on the field.

  20. WetHog says: Jun 19, 2010 4:55 PM

Williams just fired his agent so something is a foot in that regard. The Skins getting Brown is a CYA move if Williams has a lengthy holdout during training camp.

  21. robert ethen says: Jun 19, 2010 4:59 PM

Turns out it wasn’t Glazer’s shadow at all. Just a small bit of dark colored cloth someone dropped on the ground. An old handkerchief.

    …………………………
he fired an agent who was almost guaranteed to hold him out…

  24. WetHog says: Jun 19, 2010 6:54 PM

Well I don’t keep track of which Agent will hold out and which Agent is known for getting his clients into camp. Regardless, this is still a CYA move by the Skins. If nothing else McNabb’s is the ass being covered.

Of course it does. The Saints were good enough to do it without him last year but their chances of a repeat would obviously be higher with an additional good player.
