I thought he 3 meant years to free agency as in a count down. Johnson’s rookie deal was 5 years and I thought he was trying to say that it would be 3 years until free agency if he sat out

So maybe they should show up 30 days before the first game.
Then, after the week 6 game, just go home and stay home.

ummm, actually, no, it shouldnt. since this WILL BE his 3rd season, as the sentence begins with….”But if he doesnt show up….” the end of the sentence is therefore correct. he will not receive credit for a third season if, according to this provision, he fails to appear within 30 days of the start of the season (and i’m assuming even if he shows up and plays at some point after the 30 day mark as well)
anyone know how this would be handled? do they then give him credit if he shows up say the week before the first game? wouldnt doing so encourage players to miss the 30 day deadline and instead opt to play only 6 games of the season in order to get credit for their year of service? or is he automatically disqualified from play for the entire season for missing the 30 day deadline? quite the conundrum.

If Johnson shows up for six or more regular-season games, he’d receive credit for the 2010 season under his contract, reducing the overall obligation from three years to two. But if he doesn’t show up by August 10 — 30 days before the Vikings-Saints game on September 9 — Johnson’s years toward free agency will remain at only two for all of the 2010 season.
Shouldn’t this say his years toward free agency will remain at 3 for all of the 2010 season?

Well, it appears that I forgot and used a less than symbol. Let’s try this again:
1 is less than 3, 2 is less than 3 and 3 equals 3 so no, it wouldn’t app.y to Revis.
