Briggs: Bears have “different attitude” under “tough SOB” Marinelli

The Chicago Bears promoted Rod Marinelli from defensive line coach to defensive coordinator this offseason, and Bears linebacker Lance Briggs says that has made a big difference.

“My best definition of Marinelli is that he is a tough SOB,” Briggs said, per the Chicago Tribune. “He is the kind of guy you want to play for.”

Although head coach Lovie Smith is still in place, the coaching staff has undergone significant changes since the Bears went to Super Bowl XLI, and Briggs says that’s a good thing.

“We are not the team that went to the Super Bowl,” Briggs said. “We have a different attitude and it’s going to take a new attitude for us to be successful. The goal for us is to get back to being the real Monsters of the Midway.”
