Cleo Lemon catches on in Canada

sp1222_lemon_new_bw_12-22-07_IT8C050.jpgFor years, some in the NFL assumed that it was only a matter of time before Cleo Lemon would become a regular starting quarterback.

And they were right.  Sort of.

The Canadian Press reports that the Toronto Argonauts have named Lemon their starting quarterback.

Lemon beat out Dalton Bell for the job.

During a five-year NFL career, Lemon played for the Chargers, Dolphins, and Jaguars.  He started seven games during Miami’s 1-15 season, including the only victory of the year, against the Ravens.

Last year, Lemon spent part of the preseason with the Ravens.  He eventually was cut, and he spent the rest of the season out of the league.

Cleo Lemon is the only Miami QB that Cam Cameron failed to kill.

Dalton Bell is better and should be starting.
Oh by the way the Canadian Football League has games this weekend.
Thank you PFT so much for this story and acknowledging that the CFL does exist.

He was horrible in the Argo’s 31-23 Pre-Season loss to the Champion Alouettes.
Overthrowing receivers, questionable reads and uneasy in the pocket
You would have to hope he will get better after gaining some chemistry with the WRS

So all you non-CFL fans know.. the Argo’s are horrible. By making Lemon the starting QB.. he really only earned the role of first QB benched.

Speaking as a Dolphins fan, Lemon never had a chance, and it certainly wasn’t his fault.
    Good luck, Cleo.

1/2 a decade in the NFL not bad just isn’t starting nor back up caliber material… But I still remember that throw to Greg Camarillo to beat the Ravens I guess that was all he wrote .

I remember Cleo Lemon against the jets a few years back. I remember Lemon did pretty bad that game, but i do think he has potential. Good Luck with the Argonauts

Cleo Lemon was played up when he came out of college, but never really caught on…. so many Shedrick Bonner, Major Harris, Ray Lucas, and Michael Bishop (boy, he had a cannon) but it just doesnt work out with talent sometimes…. Lemon was Arkansas ST. all-time leader for pass attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdown passes.
then there was Tom Brady. A one time back up for Brian Griese and a 6th round draft choice.
You either have “it” or you dont.

In the CFL, Cleo is considered Lemon Aid.

Got to cut the dude some slack here considering the Dolphins overall play when he was in Miami. The Dolphins stunk up the place worst than a two month old oil spill.
Had THAT particular Dolphins team been better maybe Lemon would have, too. Or maybe not, but you can’t dump that entire season on his shoulders.
