Dolphins pull plug on Brandon Marshall’s appearance with Sid Rosenberg

Our friend Sid Rosenberg surely is a happy man today.

Why, you ask? Because he finagled his name into the top headline on PFT. (Yes, it’s a slow news day.) And because we’ve mentioned his name in the first line of the accompanying story.

You see, Sid loves him some Sid. He’ll explain that he’s insecure or whatever, but the fact remains that Sid Rosenberg needs to see the name Sid Rosenberg in print, and to hear the name Sid Rosenberg spoken out loud, even if followed by the phrase “is a douchebag.”

Sid’s name has migrated onto the page today because he had planned, reluctantly, to interview Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall, who has been making the rounds to publicize a youth football camp at the team’s facility. Sid and I discussed the question of whether he should go through with the interview during my Monday afternoon visit to his show, and he eventually decided to do it.

First, the spot was bumped from Tuesday to Wednesday. Then, the spot was bumped altogether.

Sid says that Marshall’s people said the Dolphins called and said they’d been listening to Sid’s show and the Dolphins suggested that Marshall shouldn’t go through with it. The problem? Sid planned to grill Marshall like a foil-wrapped trout laid on a bed of burning charcoal.

So Sid Rosenberg lost this one.

Or did he?
