Marshawn Lynch likes the Jets

Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has never said that he wants out of Buffalo.  But he really didn’t need to.

His decision not to show up for most of the offseason program, at a time when he’s pegged for third position on the depth chart, speaks volumes regarding his commitment to the team.  And if his actions left any doubt, his comments about one of the Bills’ division rivals could help turn a smoldering bridge into a full-blown conflagration.

After a Thursday minicamp practice, Lynch gushed not about his own team, but about the New York Jets.

“I’m probably not supposed to say that, but I’m excited to see what the
Jets are going to do
,” Lynch told Tim Graham of ESPN.com.  “I’m real excited.”

But while the Jets don’t need Lynch in their stacked backfield (for now at least), Lynch plans to run the entire team.  When the new Madden game comes out.

“Now that’s a team that I’m going to pick and play with on Madden,” Lynch said.  “That’s real talk.”

Eventually, Lynch made a perfunctory reference to his own team.  “It’s going to be a great thing to see on paper, fantasy, live, in
practice, in video games,” Lynch said.  “However you can see us get down
to action and regardless of who the No. 1 is, even if I’m No. 5, it’s
going to be beautiful to watch us play.”

“Beautiful” isn’t the word that comes to mind for most folks when discussing the Bills, but Lynch had to say something positive after gushing about the Jets.

He just doesn’t like the long lines at the ticket counter.
He’s not too crazy about the stripsearch and full body cavity probe, either.

Spoken with all the bravado of a football player who dodged a vehicular manslaughter charge. Why ANY team would want this guy is beyond me. He’s got all the angles covered: horrible work ethic, complete detachment from the team, and a liability off the field.

So..Marshawn Lynch is picking the Jets in Madden huh?…Hmmm..wow. Exilerating. Who cares. He sucks. Go to the Jets. The Patriots will still, once again, win the East. Even though they are dwindeling. Still the best team in the East. Come on Jets fans…lets hear it. “Pats suck now..see what the Jets did last year?” Yup…I did. They are a 2nd place team

Dude sounds stupid everytime he opens his mouth. Can’t stay out of trouble in Buffalo but wants to go to NYC. Go ahead, you’ll end up like Plexico minus the Superbowl ring

LOL…good luck with that Buffalo. Could you imagine Ray Lewis being excited about the Steelers or Dwight Freeney being excited about the Patriots?
    LMAO

Must make Bills fans feel real good that he’s talking about a team within his division.
Yes, the Jests are the darling paper champions.
Yesterday their star receiver was gushing about playing the Lions and the Bills.

agreed this guy is a douchbag. What team would even bother signing this bum?
I will be asking Marshawn for extra ketchup a year from now at a Wendy’s drive thru…

Marshawn, isn’t it about time you run over a pedestrian and drive off? He’s garbage from dread to toes.

  15. JetLove214 says: Jun 25, 2010 9:21 AM

Although I’m a Jet fan and I’m obviously excited over some of our recent aquisitions, I have to say that was unprofessional. You don’t over shadow your team with boasts to a division rival. Even though I happen to agree with him, you just can’t do what he did.

    @tatum32,
Wow that’s a stunning revelation. A crappy pro athlete can run over a bunch of likely out of shape non-pro athletes. Send that nugget to the be included in the book of universal wisdom.

My bad, ATTEMPTED vehicular manslaughter. Drunk or not, the douche kept driving after he hit her.

How do you attempt to accidentally kill someone?

  30. SterilizeTHenry says: Jun 25, 2010 11:48 AM

Am I the only person left who doesn’t like the Jets?
They were gift-wrapped a playoff spot last year due to the Colts and Bengals laying down for them.
Then they beat the absolutely lifeless Bengals in the first round.
Then they beat Nate Kaeding, I mean The Chargers, in the 2nd round.
Then it took Peyton Manning all of one half to figure their defense out and shred them for 400 yards…. just like Tom Brady is going to do this year… twice.
Sanchez still sucks. Shonn Greene will not duplicate Thomas Jones’ production last year. Their top two WRs are a suspended pothead and a guy who can’t catch. LT blows. I do not like this team. 7-9 this year. 3rd in AFC East.

  31. texasPHINSfan says: Jun 25, 2010 12:16 PM

Wow, you just don’t do that.
He might have just made himself radioactive – no team wants a player who, while under contract, raves about a division rival.
    What an idiot.

  32. Other Bears says: Jun 25, 2010 1:48 PM

Let’s say he is making a play to get the Jets’ attention. How brilliant do you have to be to want to leave the team that bumped you to the #3 spot to a team where you’d likely be in the #3 spot? He’s my hero!

  33. Beastie Bills says: Jun 25, 2010 1:53 PM

People….click the link to the actual article.
Florio left out the parts about “The Jets are taking risks” and “hopefully the risks they’re taking pay off for us”.
The whole damn article is about madden. This is a NON-STORY.

  34. JetsAreAJoke says: Jun 25, 2010 3:33 PM

    @ Beastie Bills,
He also said “Lynch acknowledged the Jets are gambling with team chemistry. They’ve brought in some large personalities and parted ways with leaders such as running back Thomas Jones and kicker Jay Feely.”
And with the jests losing history, we all know where this will end up. Can you say: 4-12?
SAME OL’ JESTS!!!!! It’s in their DNA.

  35. pray4thebills says: Jun 26, 2010 11:31 AM

lol @ attempted manslaughter. if you’re gonna bash the guys character and work ethic like you know him personally, at least learn the meaning of the legal terms you’re tossing around.

  36. K says: Jul 1, 2010 5:58 PM

Vehicular manslaughter charge???? funny I didn’t knwo the drunk woman dancing in the middle of the rain soaked street died. I actually remember him being charged with a misdemeanor hit and run (he bumped her butt). Manslaughter….serious stuff Alan….
